Nanso Satomi Festival

Nanso Satomi Festival features a coastal procession of some 200 people dressed as Princess Fuse, the eight warriors, and other characters from the epic novel Nanso Satomi Hakkenden (Satomi and the Eight Dogs). A special venue is prepared for demonstrations and realistic fight scenes by the eight warriors, and for test fires of matchlock guns. Palanquins and boat-shaped floats from various districts are also unveiled. The event closes at night with a display of fireworks.

Shiroyama Park

Shiroyama Park, occupying the southern hills of Tateyama City, was the home of the Satomi clan during the feudal era of the 15th and 16th centuries. Today the premises are lined with trees that bloom with camellias, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and azaleas each season. The hilltop Tateyama Castle, or Hakkenden Museum, offers a stunning view from the keep tower. The hillside Tateyama City Municipal Museum also allows visitors to explore the local history.

Boso Flower Line

Boso Flower Line, is a street lined with flowers all year round, including rape blossoms between January and spring, and marigolds in summer. Akayama Tunnels

The Akayama Tunnels, partially opened to the public on April 1, 2004, represent the remains of the Tateyama naval air corps' underground air-raid shelters. With a total length of about 1.6 kilometers, they are one of Japan's most intricate maze of tunnels and Tateyama City's most significant remnants of the Pacific War. Based on oral accounts, construction took place until the day of Japan's defeat—the tunnels were never completed.

TsurugayaHachiman Shrine Festival (Yawatanmachi)
