The English Harvest services took place on Sunday October 10th with Harvest Eucharist at 8 a.m. followed by a family Eucharist and children’s gifts Service at 11 a.m. The Reverend Kathleen Rogers was the celebrant at both services and accepted the children’s gifts. Sadly there were very few children at the Family Service but those who were there enjoyed colouring some harvest pictures which they brought to the communion rail to be placed with the harvest gifts at the altar. The congregation were each given a paper leaf and were asked to write their own “thank you” on the leaves and hang them on the “thank you tree”. The Rev’d Kathleen thanked all who took part in the service and all who had taken time to decorate the church. The gifts of fruit and vegetables were shared between the Community Hospital and Cartref Dyfi. Many thanks to Ken and Margaret Searson who acted as deliverymen. The St Peter’s Ladies’ Fellowship held thier annual Harvest Supper on Tuesday evening 12th October. The President, Mrs Muriel Evans, warmly welcomed everyone and thanked the members for their hard work preparing the supper and to Mrs Margaret Searson who made the apple pies. The Rev’d Kathleen Rogers said Grace before a very enjoyable supper of soup, followed by ham salad and apple pie and cream. Delightful entertainment by Mr Alwyn Evans, tenor, and Mr Guto Pugh on the trumpet was enjoyed by all and they were thanked by Mrs Muriel Evans. Special thanks were expressed to the “faithful helpers”, Mr Elfed Jones and Mr Ken Searson, who acted as doormen, sold raffle tickets, served the ladies with supper and helped with the washing up! An evening of good company, good food and good entertainment. The next meeting will be on 9th November when Mrs Karen Davies will be talking about Reiki. A.H. Lord, let your presence bring comfort to those who are suffering; may they know your love and care; may they feel your peace and your presence. Amen. Thursday 30th September was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, and the trees were just starting to turn to their autumn colours. Saturday the 2nd of October was quite a nice day too. The morning of Friday the 1st of October, the day of our Sponsored Walk, was very wet and very windy!! Despite the weather nine friends met at St Peter’s to decide on the best direction to walk. Our intention had been to walk the coastal path from Clarach to Aberystwyth but that was not advisable in such awful weather. We decided to take two cars to Bont Efans by the Corris Caravan Park and walk along the old road to Corris, through the village to the Bee Hives. The walk was enjoyed by all in spite of the rain and our thanks to the staff of the cafe at the Bee Hives who allowed nine very wet walkers to enjoy a well earned hot drink, (and a cake!) before retracing our footsteps to the cars. Although we were disappointed not to have walked the coastal path – that will wait until next year – the morning wasn’t wasted, we enjoyed the exercise and the company and we raised the marvellous sum of £924! A big thank you to the nine walkers and to everyone who sponsored us. What’s a little wind and rain any way?!! We extend our deepest sympathy to all who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We remember you all in our prayers. To Mrs Margaret Hughes, Ty Gwyn, Pennal, on the death of her husband’s cousin in Australia, who had recently celebrated her 100th birthday. To Mr Edward Vaughan, Cae Crwn, on the death of his brither, Terrance Grant, O Lord, to all who mourn a sure confidence in Your loving care, that, casting all their sorrow on You they may know the consolation of Your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
