We begin in the charming seaside town of Moneglia. Beautifully located in the heart of a bay on the Mediterranean sea, the picture-postcard town is listed since 2012 on the 'I Borghi Più Belli d'Italia' (Most Beautiful Villages of Italy) and has been awarded the European Blue Flag every year since 1990, for its clear waters and the quality of the services offered. Day 2 Follow the coastal trail between Deiva Marina and the villages of Framura and Bonassola In the morning we take a short train to Deiva Marina and start our walk through holm oak forests and maquis shrubland. The walk begins with a relatively steep path, climbing up to picturesque woods of pine and strawberry trees. Our efforts will be rewarded at the top of the hill with stunning panoramic views of the coastline and the Promontory of Portofino.We will then take an ondulating trail that offers beautiful views over the Ligurian Sea and leads to the village of Framura, where we stop for lunch. After the refreshments, we descend by steps almost to sea level then meander through woods until a final steep climb for magnificent views of the sea. We then head to the pretty village of Bonassola before taking the train back to our hotel in Moneglia. Day 3 Take the train to Cinque Terre N.P; walk the stunning paths to some of Liguria's prettiest villages. Today we will set out to visit the spectacular Cinque Terre (Five Lands), one of Italy's most beautiful 'works of art', declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and part of the Cinque Terre National Park. The best way to explore these charming villages is on foot, and today we will walk on the famous Sentiero Azzurro Ligure (Ligurian Blue Path), which connects the five villages.Today we will visit three of the five, namely Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso, and we will pass along old mule tracks, walking through terraced vineyards and olive groves. After completing some steep and rocky sections, we will be rewarded with wonderful views of the colourful villages, built into the rocks facing the sea. Please note that some sections of the path may be closed so we may need to take the train between villages or change the itinerary accordingly.At the end of the walk, we catch the train back to Moneglia where there will be time to relax or go for a swim before dinner. Day 4 Walk on the Portofino promontory and explore the world-renowned fishing village of Portofino itself. This morning we will set out by train to Santa Margherita Ligure, a charming coastal town, where we will begin our hike to the fishing village of Portofino. Famous for its pastel-coloured houses and picturesque harbour, the town is now attracting celebrities from all over the world. Day 5 Free day to relax, take optional walks or visiting nearby Portovenere or Genova. Today you will enjoy a well-earned break and perhaps spend your day relaxing at the beach. Those with more energy might like to use the opportunity for some sightseeing. Genoa, the region’s capital city, home of Christopher Columbus and the largest aquarium in Europe is not be missed. Alternatively, you could spend some time in the near town of Porto Venere, referred to being one of the stops in the "Bay of Poets" or use the day to visit the beautiful town of Lucca, located further away. Day 6 Transfer to Rapallo by train, take the cable car up Montallegro for fantastic views and walk down to Chiavari, afternoon wine tasting. This morning we will take a short train ride to Rapallo and the cable car up to the sanctuary of Montallegro (600 mt). From here we will set out on a walk through quiet woodland, catching glimpses of the Ligurian sea en route to the seaside town of Chiavari. In the early evening we will have the chance to enjoy the local speciality at our well-deserved wine tasting! Day 7 Return to the Cinque Terre area for an alternative walk through glorious coastline and colourful villages. This morning we will head back to the famous Cinque Terre to walk some of the quieter, alternative trails. The exact path you will walk will depend on local track conditions, but they are generally on higher ground than the classic Sentiero Azzuro, so offer even more spectacular views of the coastline and villages. Day 8 End Moneglia. Our trip ends in Moneglia, after breakfast. The transport system in the city of Genoa is strongly influenced by the complex orography of the region, a narrow territory between the mountain and the sea; therefore the traffic is forced to flow through limited routes across densely populated areas, with just two relevant traffic infrastructures connecting the eastern and the western areas of the city: the “sopraelevata” and the “pedemontana”, respectively built long the coastline and halfway up the hill. It includes cool forests, warm Mediterranean maquis, and chestnut and olive tree groves, and has a long tradition of smallholder farming and fishing. Protected since 1935, the Park is home to one of the richest examples of flora in the Mediterranean, a notable variety of birds and invertebrates, a rich architectural heritage and some of the best known landscapes in the world. A dense network of paths criss-crosses maquis, mixed forests typical of the Apennines, rural settlements and fishing villages steeped in art and history. All of these factors, together with the area’s easy accessibility, make Il Promontorio di Portofino one of the best known and most visited tourist destinations in Europe. Natural heritage Walking through the Park’s highly distinct habitats allows the visitor to enjoy its spectacular landscapes and fascinating views in just a small area. The northern sector is dominated by deciduous forests, while the southern part is covered by dense maquis, pinewoods, ampelodesmos grass meadows and garigue shorelines. The sea cliffs are home to a unique biological system, while the agricultural landscape is dominated by olive trees, often interspersed with vegetable plots and orchards.

(linea Genova – La Spezia). In auto si esce a Sestri L. (casello A12). Con la tappa in questione abbandoniamo la parte più antropizzata della Riviera di Levante per affrontare quella più selvaggia ed affascinante, fatta di promontori che si allungano verso il mare, che il sentiero in questione attraversa nei tratti più panoramici. Meno celebri delle Cinque Terre e del promontorio di Portofino, questa zona è comunque battuta da migliaia di escursionisti ogni anno. Il primo promontorio affrontato dal Verdeazzurro è quello di Punta Manara, una sorta di isola rocciosa staccata dall’Appennino Ligure, divisa dai torrenti Petronio e Gromolo. Saliamo a Punta Manara, vero e proprio balcone panoramico sul mare, e scendiamo in direzione di Riva, frazione di Sestri L. nota per la presenza dei cantieri navali. Aggirati quest’ultimi si prosegue per Moneglia, passando per Punta Baffe, altro stupendo promontorio a picco sul mare. Partiamo dal centro di Sestri L., dove troviamo la via pedonale interna ricca di negozi che porta il nome di Via 25 Aprile. A metà strada troviamo in direzione est un vicoletto con arco (Vico del Bottone), e subito a sinistra prendiamo Salita Mandrella, dove troviamo una freccia in ceramica che indica “Punta Manara”. Inizia qui il percorso escursionistico segnalato con due quadrati rossi, che ci seguiranno fedeli fino a Punta Manara.

From Zoagli the Sentiero Liguria goes on passing through panoramic hamlets surrounded by olive groves, before descending to Rapallo. From Rapallo it heads up to San Lorenzo della Costa before descending again to Santa Margherita Ligure. The itinerary continues on the trails of the Nature Park of Portofino to the famous homonymous village. Walk up to the railway station, cross the Via Aurelia and take the staircase up to Via Solari e Queirolo. Turn right and follow this road for a few hundred metres until the fork, where you will take the road that heads up on the left (Via San Pietro). Take the stairs on the left and walk up to the beautiful Church of San Pietro di Rovereto. At the fork just before the Church, take the small road that descends on the left and pass the school. In Parazzuolo you will come out on Via dei Tessitori. Follow this road westwards for 50 metres, before turning right on Strada Vicinale Cassottana, a pedestrian road that soon becomes a trail.
