Press Release RISI COMPETIZIONE 12-HOUR RACE REPORT - 2019 24 HOURS OF LE MANS Race Public Relations Barbara J. Burns Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE-Pro No. 89: Luis Felipe “Pipo” Derani (BRA) BurnsGroup PR [email protected] Oliver Jarvis (GBR) Tel: +1 770 329 7134 Jules Gounon (FRA) Risi Competizione Anna Lenzi Le Mans, France (June 16, 2019)… The 24 Hours of Le Mans race has reached [email protected] the halfway point of the 87th running at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The No. 89 Risi 6100 Southwest Freeway Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE-Pro entry of Pipo Derani, Oliver Jarvis, and Jules Houston, Texas USA 77057 Gounon has improved their pace and elevated to the 11th position in class after Tel: +1 713 772 3868 www.risicompetizione.com once-around-the-clock of racing. Jarvis was at the wheel and in 14th-place at the 6-hour mark. A full course caution was displayed immediately after he entered the car. Shortly thereafter he had to pit when he locked up his brakes in an oil spill in the first chicane. Fuel and new tires were added in the first stop and fuel only in his final stop, which also included a driver change to Derani. The Brazilian Derani had an uneventful double stint during the night-time hours of nearly 12:00 midnight until after 2:00 a.m. local time. With the exception of turning several laps behind a safety car after an on-track incident of a Prototype car, Derani pushed hard and climbed into the 11th position in the GTE-Pro class. He then pitted to hand driving duties over to Frenchman Gounon, who will race until nearly daylight on the 8.467-mile (13.626 kilometer) French circuit. QUOTES: Oliver Jarvis, driver No. 89 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 LM GTE-Pro: “It was good to get back in the car, especially at night. I always love driving at Le Mans at night. There’s something special about it. First stint I didn’t even get a full lap with the full course yellow, slow zones and safety car. And then we boxed (pitted) and went back out. I think there was oil down at the first chicane. The Ford went off just ahead of me and then I locked up, so we had to box and change tires. Then I had two more stints and pushed as hard as I could. We’re missing a little bit of performance. I’m not sure why but we’ll just keep pushing and see what happens through the rest of the night.” “Pipo” Derani, driver No. 89 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 LM GTE-Pro: “I think finally we’re putting some good laps in considering it was a tough beginning of the weekend. Now we are fighting to enter the top ten considering all the difficulties we’ve had. It was a nice couple of stints at night. It’s always a pleasure here at Le Mans. It’s a very unique place to drive, especially at night. Looking forward to the second half of the race now.” For race information about the 24 Hours of Le Mans, please visit lemans.org.
