Donau, June 16, 2021 – The DTM starts its 36th season under new auspices in which Audi is strongly represented on two grids. While the DTM is relying on GT3 sportscars like the Audi R8 LMS for the first time after two decades of Class 1 touring cars, the DTM Trophy is tackling its second season with production-based models like the Audi R8 LMS GT4. “Audi knows the DTM very well and, with twelve title successes in the drivers classification alone, is one of the two most successful brands in history. A new era begins for the DTM in 2021. Gerhard Berger has succeeded in transforming the Class 1 era into a highly attractive platform based on GT motorsport. The 2021 season promises pure excitement thanks to a high level of brand diversity and an internationally top-class driver line-up,” says Julius Seebach, Managing Director Audi Sport GmbH and responsible for motorsport at Audi. “For our Audi Sport customer racing customers, the new DTM platform offers the opportunity to fight for the coveted DTM title. With the R8 LMS, we offer the product that is capable of winning and are pleased that the teams have chosen Audi.” As usual, two races are scheduled for each of the eight events. They usually last 55 minutes plus one lap and include one mandatory pit stop each.

We've designed this media guide to assist you throughout the weekend, whether it be to reference historical data, information on this year's event or information and statistics on our six weekend races. It also includes a section on transportation, hotels and restaurants to make your stay in Long Beach more efficient and enjoyable. Our three-day weekend is packed with activities on and off the track. In addition to the racing, two concerts will take place: on Friday night at 6:45 p.m., the Tecate Light Fiesta Friday concert will feature popular Mexican rock band "Moderatto," while on Saturday night, "SMG Presents Kings of Chaos Starring Billy Idol, Billy Gibbons and Chester Bennington" will entertain the Grand Prix crowd at the Rock-N-Roar Concert. The Lifestyle Expo, located in the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, will see more than 180,000 Grand Prix fans walk through multiple times. Our annual media luncheon takes place on Thursday, April 6, and will feature drivers from many of the racing series that will be here over the weekend.     Maro Engel en Toksport WRT bezorgen Mercedes-AMG eerste pole bij Hankook 24H DUBAI sinds 2017 DUBAI (9 januari 2020) – De Duitser Maro Engel, een voormalig winnaar van de FIA GT World Cup, had sinds 2017 niet meer op het Dubai Autodrome geracet, maar dat weerhield hem er geenszins van om de pole-position voor de 15e editie van de Hankook 24H DUBAI van dit weekeinde voor zich op te eisen. Zijn rondetijd van 1:57,490 minuten op het 5,390 kilometer lange Dubai Autodrome was voor Engel genoeg om met de Toksport WRT-Mercedes-AMG GT3 (#777, Maro Engel / Luca Stolz / Philip Ellis / Patrick Assenheimer / Martin Konrad) de pole- position veilig te stellen. Voor Mercedes-AMG was het ook de eerste pole-position bij de Hankook 24H DUBAI sinds 2017. “Deze heb ik echt aan het team te danken, de jongens hebben een ongelooflijke klus geklaard door onze auto na schade in de testdag van gisteren weer te repareren. Ik geloof dat ze tot vier uur vanmorgen bezig geweest zijn, dus het is mooi om iets terug te kunnen geven”, zei Maro Engel na de kwalificatie. “Als altijd speelde het verkeer in de tijdtraining een belangrijke rol, maar ik kon een redelijk fatsoenlijke ronde rijden, die genoeg was voor de pole-position.” De Nederlander Jeroen Bleekemolen reed met de Black Falcon-Mercedes- AMG GT3 (#4, Khaled Al Qubaisi / Hubert Haupt / Ben Barker / Manuel Metzger / Jeroen Bleekemolen) de tweede tijd, slechts 0,047 seconden achter Engel.
