  • INTRODUCTION En Septembre 2020, Luca De Meo a Annoncé La Création

For more than 115 years Renault has embraced the challenge of motorsport in multiple guises. It recognised the value of competitive activities for technical and commercial gain: in December 1898 Louis Renault drove the Type A Voiturette up the steepest street in Paris, the rue Lepic. The first orders for the ground-breaking car with direct drive flooded in. In 1902 the nimble, lightweight Type K, fitted with Renault’s first 4-cylinder engine, took victory in the Paris-Vienna rally. Again, many more cars were sold. Going through the years, in 1977 Renault introduced the first-ever turbocharged car to F1.

  • Making the Connections: the Cross-Sector Benefits of Supporting Bus Services
Business, Communities Culture, Cabinet Innovation & Local Media & Skills Government & Sport Environment, Work & Energy & Education Food & Rural Pensions Climate Affairs Change Deputy Prime Health Minister HM Treasury Making the connections: The cross-sector benefits of supporting bus services the voice of urban transport The cross-sector benefits of the bus - in summary 4 Cross sector benefits of the bus 4 With over five billion bus trips made every year1, for most people in Great Britain the bus is public transport. Public support for the bus represents excellent value for money, making a significant contribution to the achievement of policy goals across Government – from boosting employment to tackling physical inactivity; increasing exports to enabling access to education; and from cutting greenhouse gas emissions to supporting culture and sport. This report articulates the benefits of investing in the bus - department by department - relating the benefits to the individual policies that each department works to. It shows that the bus is key to achieving key policy goals of half of all Government departments across Whitehall. It is vitally important to highlight this contribution given that the cross-sector benefits of the bus often go unrecognised in the complex way in which bus services are supported. Changes to these funding streams are often made without consideration of the cumulative impact on bus services and the knock-on effects on the ability of other departments to achieve their goals. In light of this, this report makes recommendations on how the funding of bus services could be reformed to recognise the cross-sector benefits they bring. A growing evidence base This report complements our 2013 report on ‘The Case for the Urban Bus: The Economic and Social Value of Bus Networks in the Metropolitan Areas’2 by expanding on the wider benefits the bus brings for departments across Government and to places beyond the Metropolitan areas.
