May Event Recap: A Conversation with Jamie Dimon

Today, I got the chance to hear one of the recognized icons of modern American banking, Jamie Dimon, the President and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase. Given that my knowledge of banking begins and ends with my debit card, I almost felt guilty taking up a seat at the event. But, I left that room informed, inspired and impressed.

Dimon was candid, open and clearly spoke from the heart. He demonstrated his deep Jamie Dimon command of industry knowledge, providing insights into how financial policy and global policy are intertwined. His topics included the government’s role in cyber security, Greece and the European Union, and the future of virtual currency. Dimon also shared some smart advice for those in the room like me, who are nervously eying our 401K balances during these times of marketing volatility. His advice: ignore the undecipherable mysteries of Wall Street and focus instead on the real world strengths of the American economy and the American people.

I would just like to close by thanking Rainier Jamie Dimon Club member Phyllis Cambell, JP Morgan Chase Chairman for the Pacific Northwest; Eric Breidenbach and the Business Leadership Committee. Bringing a speaker of Jamie Dimon’s stature to The Rainier Club is a real coup, one we all should be proud of.
