Richard Batty Is a Singer/Songwriter from Liverpool, UK. He Writes and Performs His Own Material in a Mixture of Acoustic, Pop and Rock Styles (SOLO/BAND) Richard Batty is a singer/songwriter from Liverpool, UK. He writes and performs his own material in a mixture of acoustic, pop and rock styles. Richard Batty EPK 1 www.richardbattymusic.com Last Updated: 18/05/2016 BIO In the past 15 years Richard Batty has come along way, from forming his first band Majestyk in 2000, to branching out into a solo artist, and having a residency at The Cavern Club, since 2009. Along the way he supported the likes of The Feeling, Lotus Eaters and Bruce Foxton of The Jam. He’s influenced by a wide range of music, some favourites include, The Beatles, Big Star, Televison, and Buffalo Springfield. In 2014, after focusing on his songwriting craft, Richard went to Whitewood Studios between May and December 2014, to record his debut release, the Loaded Gun EP, which was recorded using some digital equipment, and an analogue tape machine. It was subsequently mastered at Abbey Road Studios, London. In June 2015, the record was released on CD, and digitally on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon. Loaded Gun, has already received national airplay and great praise from his fans. REVIEW “I’d been aware of the name Richard Batty for some time but hadn’t heard any of his music until I managed to catch part of his solo set at the Unity’s Liverpool Acoustic Festival back in February. I was impressed then and having listened to his new EP Loaded Gun (EP? Mini album? What is the difference?) I’m even more impressed. (…) Loaded Gun is a well-crafted collection of seven songs from one of Liverpool’s hidden gems and perfectly showcases singer-songwriter Batty’s polished style of acoustic-driven pop.” Graham Holland, Promoter at Liverpool Acoustic http://liverpoolacoustic.co.uk/2015/06/ep-review-richard-batty-loaded-gun/ Richard Batty EPK 2 www.richardbattymusic.com Last Updated: 18/05/2016 GIG DIARY Resident at solo acoustic performer at Cavern Club since 2009. • 2 to Be Somebody: Ambition and the Desire to Be Different
2 To Be Somebody: Ambition and the Desire to Be Different The context for difference This chapter aims to identify some of the bands that enjoyed chart success during the late 1970s and ’80s and identify their artistic traits by means of conversations with band members and those close to the bands. This chapter does not claim to be a definitive account or an inclusive list of innovative bands but merely a viewpoint from some of the individuals who were present at the time and involved in music, creativity and youth culture. Some of these individuals were in the eye of the storm while others were more on the periphery. However, common themes emerge and testify to the Scouse resilience identified in the previous chapter. Also, identifying objective truth is a difficult task, as one band member will often have a view of his band’s history that conflicts with that of other members of the same band. As such, it is acknowledged that this chapter presents only selective viewpoints. Trying something new: In what ways were the Liverpool bands creative and different? ‘Liverpool has always made me brave, choice-wise. It was never a city that criticized anyone for taking a chance.’ David Morrissey1 In terms of creativity, the theory underpinning this book which was stated in Chapter 1 is that successful Liverpool bands in the 1980s were different from each other and did not attempt to follow the latest local or national pop music trends. None of the bands interviewed falls into the categories of punk, disco or New Romantic, which were popular trends at the time.

  • A Singer-Songwriters' Tribute to the Music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Route 61 Music & Hemifrån proudly present A SINGER-SONGWRITERS' TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC OF CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG A 2-disc / 36-page booklet deluxe set. 27 artists, 27 songs. A tribute to the outstanding body of work produced by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. A benefit for the Equestrian Therapy Co-op* in Brandeis, California. *Equestrian Therapy is horseback riding for children and adults who can personally benefit from a natural encounter with horses. By combining horsemanship with concepts of physical and occupational therapy, Equestrian Therapy Co-Op programme promotes balance, coordination, focus and self-confidence in children and adults with special needs. PRODUCERS' NOTE Like all of the musicians on this album, we grew up deeply affected by the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Perhaps it was even deeper for us as Europeans, because America was only a place we dreamed of, a far-off romantic world that we tried to understand, and music, movies and books were the among the ways we discovered it. This album is our little effort to thank the four men who opened up that world to us, and made it sing in harmony for more than forty years. Heartfelt thanks go also to all of the artists and bands — most of them good friends of ours — who are part of our larger musical world. Not only did you create your own great music, gifting us with beautiful original songs, but helped us make this tribute album possible. Music is love. That has always been the case. Once upon a time, through the songs of CSNY, we discovered that love was worldwide.
