Introduction to the Project

In order to promote the development of international law, strengthen exchanges in the field of international law between and other Asian and African countries, the Chinese government decided to establish the “China - AALCO exchange and research project of international law”. In April 2015, Chinese President and Premier Li Keqiang announced the project at the 54th Annual Meeting of AALCO and the Asian-African Summit respectively. The training session is an important part of the project. The first training session, based on the Tenth International Law Summer Course Program of Xiamen Academy of International Law, was held from July 13th to July 31th, 2015 in Xiamen. It attracted 22 participants from Asian and African countries, as well as and Macao special administrative regions of China. It was very successful. The second training session will be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized by China University of Political Science and Law and undertaken by School of International Law. It will be held at the Center for International Exchange, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), from August 29 to September 18, 2016, with a total of 37 participants. 1 2 3 II. Introduction to CUPL

China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), China’s largest and key national law university, has a history of 64 years. It is located in Beijing and has two campuses: the Xueyuanlu Campus and the Changping Campus. Apart from legal education, it also provides education of literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, and other arts and social sciences. At present, It comprises of 18 schools, including School of Law, School of International Law, School of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law, and School of Criminal Justice. There are over 16,000 undergraduates and graduate students and more than 900 faculty members. Over 200 thousands of the CUPL alumni were, and are working in various social services across China, in particular the judicial services of the State organs at various levels. The CUPL faculty members have been largely involved in the process of drafting Chinese laws and regulations, as well as international legal process. Venue The venue of the Second Training Session will be the Second Lecture Hall, which is located at the third floor of the Center for International Exchange (国际交流中心,Guoji Jiaoliu Zhongxin), the Changping Campus, CUPL. At the South Gate of the Changping Campus, you can find the bus stations with the following lines: Bus No. Chang 3; No. 884; or No. Chang 67: going to Vanke Square(shopping and dinning); Bus No. 345 Fast; No. 357; or No. 655: going to Subway Changping Station; Bus No. Chang 56: going to Subway Changping Dongguan Station; Bus No. 345 Fast: going to the downtown of Beijing. At the North Gate of the Changping Campus, you can find the bus stations with the following lines: Bus No. 886 going to the downtown of Beijing.

If you head west from the South Gate of the Changping Campus for one kilometer, you will find the Changping Station of the Changping Line; If you head east for one kilometer, you will find the Changping Dongguan Station of the Changping Line. ■ Inside the Campus: There are 3 ATMS inside the Campus- At the South Gate there is the ATM of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). VII.D. Currency Conversion Ratio The currency used in mainland China is called RMB or Chinese Yuan. 1 US dollar is about 6.6 Chinese Yuan /RMB.
