Introduction to the Project In order to promote the development of international law, strengthen exchanges in the field of international law between China and other Asian and African countries, the Chinese government decided to establish the “China - AALCO exchange and research project of international law”. In April 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang announced the project at the 54th Annual Meeting of AALCO and the Asian-African Summit respectively. The training session is an important part of the project. The first training session, based on the Tenth International Law Summer Course Program of Xiamen Academy of International Law, was held from July 13th to July 31th, 2015 in Xiamen. It attracted 22 participants from Asian and African countries, as well as Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions of China. It was very successful. The second training session will be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized by China University of Political Science and Law and undertaken by School of International Law. It will be held at the Center for International Exchange, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), from August 29 to September 18, 2016, with a total of 37 participants. Introduction to CUPL China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), China’s largest and key national law university, has a history of 64 years. It is located in Beijing and has two campuses: the Xueyuanlu Campus and the Changping Campus. Apart from legal education, it also provides education of literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, and other arts and social sciences. At present, It comprises of 18 schools, including School of Law, School of International Law, School of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law, and School of Criminal Justice. There are over 16,000 undergraduates and graduate students and more than 900 faculty members. Over 200 thousands of the CUPL alumni were, and are working in various social services across China, in particular the judicial services of the State organs at various levels. The CUPL faculty members have been largely involved in the process of drafting Chinese laws and regulations, as well as international legal process. It also has established various communication programs with over 180 universities of 45 countries and regions. Introduction to the Second Training Session III.A. Venue The venue of the Second Training Session will be the Second Lecture Hall, which is located at the third floor of the Center for International Exchange (国际交流中心,Guoji Jiaoliu Zhongxin), the Changping Campus, CUPL.
