Will Corbett

Sierra Trek has always held unique and special places in both my mind, and my heart. Since I first read about it the pages of Four Wheeler magazines as a teen in the early 80’s, I was fascinated by this event. None of the articles that I read ever described where the event took place, and they consistently described the Fordyce Creek trail as “more difficult than the Rubicon Trail.” To a new ‘wheeler, who believed that the Rubicon Trail was the pinnacle of difficulty (though I had yet to visit it), this seemed unfathomable. How could some relatively unknown trail be more difficult than the “Granddaddy of ‘Em All”? Eventually, I would find out….. I bought my 1972 Jeep in the spring of 1995. I’d wanted one ever since my folks had told me “no way,” when I wanted to buy one in high school. “60 Minutes” had done me and the CJ-5 in…. Now I was an adult who made his own decisions, Wade Corbett at and if I wanted to risk my life driving a “death machine,” by the top of Winch God, I was going to do it.
