Modern Facility

A school on a hill, Applewild is in a neighborhood replete with large, historic homes, separate from the city of Fitchburg. The school offers a safe and tranquil learning environment on its 26 acres, while the campus reflects the school’s commitment to sustainability with a solar-powered kitchen facility, apple trees and a food garden (growing some of the vegetable and fruit eaten in the school dining hall). Plenty of space for students to exercise and perform is available, with ample playing fields, cross-country trails, a 400 seat Center for Performing Arts and multiple gymnasiums (one with an indoor rock climbing wall). The Upper School (grades 6-8) and Lower School (Kindergarden-5) are in separate buildings, accessible by walkway, and each of the buildings embrace the school colors of green and white in their design. The Upper School facilities include 2 full science laboratories, a Mac computer lab, a full library (20,000 books and an online library), Mac laptops, two gymnasiums, and ActivBoard technology in several classrooms.

English Language Learners Program Courses The program is individualized for each student’s needs, and propels them for a successful transition into secondary independent schools and college/university. Students will work closely with ELL teachers, but take the school’s regular, challenging math, science, and history classes and participate in a full range of arts, athletics, and music offerings.

Extracurricular Activities

He was a Chorus Woodshop student ambassador and led tours on Open House days and a talented member of Applewild's award- Jazz Band Mentor Program winning Jazz Band. David was selected to play in the Theater Program Jazz Band at a local secondary school and excelled in Applewild's challenging curriculum, earning honors or high honors each semester. David placed Sports first at Applewild in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC 8) in both his 7th and 8th grade school years. Additionally, at Applewild's 8th Grade # of Sports Offered: 6 Recognition Ceremony, David won both the Math and the Band Director's Awards, and he and his Soccer Track team placed first in their division for Field Hockey Basketball Regional History Day. The team went on to represent Applewild at Massachusetts State History Cross Country Lacrosse Day where he and his teammates received a special award.
