TMI Episcopal Science Instructor August 1, 2020 Founded in 1893, TMI Episcopal (TMI) is the flagship private school of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. Located in San Antonio, TMI educates students in grades 6-12 and is the oldest Episcopal Church-sponsored, college-preparatory school in the Southwest. TMI offers a 5-day or 7-day boarding for students in grades 8-12. The mission of TMI is to provide an excellent educational community, challenging motivated students to develop their full potential in service and leadership. TMI is at the leading edge of sound educational innovation through creative approaches to teaching and learning, providing a well-rounded experience for day and boarding students from diverse backgrounds through a strong co-curricular program of athletics, fine arts, community service. TMI will also be opening the Walker Innovation Center in fall 2020. The WIC is an 8,000 square foot space that will include a fab-lab maker space, idea labs, a dedicated robotics room, AR/VR lab and a sound and broadcasting space. The WIC will be under the direction of our Dean of Innovation and will be available to all faculty to use for stand-alone projects or to facilitate the ongoing integration of Design Thinking and project-based learning in an effort to instill in our students the benefits of real-world problem solving. Democracy. Environmentalism. Adventure. Leadership. Service. These are the pillars of Round Square, an international network of 200+ schools in 50+ countries that The Athenian School co-founded. Athenian, a grades 6-12 day and boarding independent school located on 75 acres near the rolling East Bay hills of the San Francisco Bay Area, has been living out its mission of experiential learning as a Round Square school since 1966. These six core values are also the pillars of a new role at Athenian: dean of experiential education. The “Pillar Dean,” as this role is affectionately known at Athenian, will be charged with coordinating several all-school experiential learning programs, but more importantly with bringing those experiential principles of learning-by-doing to the core curriculum. Thus, the dean of experiential education will serve as a critical bridge and mentor to middle and upper school faculty. The Pillar Dean, a 12-month role that reports to the assistant head of school / middle school head, starts July 1, 2021. THREE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES AT ATHENIAN 1. Massachusetts Grade 7 Immunization Survey Results 2013‐2014 The Massachusetts Department of Public Health Immunization Program is pleased to make available the 2013‐2014 Massachusetts grade 7 immunization survey results by school. Please be aware that the data are limited in a number of ways, including those listed below. Data release standards do not allow for data to be shared for schools with fewer than 30 reported students in grade 7. Schools that reported fewer than 30 students in grade 7 are indicated (†). Not all schools return their survey. Schools without data due to non‐response are indicated (*). Data were collected in the fall, but immunization data are often updated throughout the year and rates (during the same school year) may be higher than reported due to additional children receiving immunizations or bringing records to school. Also, the student body is dynamic and as students arrive and leave school, the immunization rates are impacted. Children are allowed a medical or religious exemption to one or more vaccines. Children without the required number of doses of vaccine do not necessarily have an exemption on file. Children without a record of vaccination, but with serologic proof of immunity to certain diseases (measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis b and varicella), meet school entry requirements, but may not be counted as vaccinated. All data are self‐reported by the schools and discrepancies may exist. The Immunization Program continues to work with schools to resolve discrepancies and update immunization data,
