Inhalation Remove to fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. Keep victim warm and quiet. Seek immediate medical attention/advice.

Skin contact Immediately flush skin with water and rinse skin with soap and water for at least 5-10 minutes. Use lukewarm water if possible. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention if redness does not disappear.

Eye contact Important! Immediately rinse cautiously with tempered water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical attention.

Ingestion Clean mouth with water and drink plenty of water afterwards. Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention/advice.

4.2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed Inhalation: May cause irritation of the upper respiratory tract. Excessive inhalation of high concentrations may cause nausea,

______

Page 2 / 10 EUGB - BE Propionaldehyde Revision Date 14-Nov-2019 ______vomiting, headache, and dizziness. Skin contact: May cause redness and swelling of the skin. Absorption of harmful amounts is not likely. Eye contact: Causes severe irritation with flood of tears and pain and strong redness and swelling of the eye. Risk of damage to the conjunctiva and cornea. Ingestion: May cause irritation of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach including severe pain. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness or drowsiness, and headache may as well occur.

4.3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed Treat symptomatically.

SECTION 5: Firefighting measures

5.1. Extinguishing media Suitable extinguishing media Alcohol resistant foam. (CO2). Extinguishing powder.

Unsuitable extinguishing media High volume water jet. Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

5.2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture The substance is a flammable liquid and may form explosive air/vapour mixtures. Vapour is heavier than air and may accumulate in low areas and travel a considerable distance up to the source of ignition. When flames are extinguished, explosive re-ignition may occur.

Hazardous combustion products Carbon dioxide (CO2), (CO).

5.3. Advice for firefighters Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Additional information Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.

SECTION 6: Accidental release measures

6.1. Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures The substance/product is registered with strictly controlled conditions as defined in Article 18(4) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH Regulation) and must therefore be handled as such. ELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in immediate area). Keep unprotected persons away. In case of major spill contact the rescue services. For emergency responders: Wear fully protective suit. Wear full face mask with filter for organic substances.

6.2. Environmental precautions Do not allow into any sewer, on the ground or into any body of water. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. See Section 12 for additional ecological information.

6.3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up Methods for containment Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Small spill Absorb or cover with dry earth, sand or other non-combustible material and transfer to containers. Large spill Pump up the product into a spare container suitably labelled. Ground container and fittings.

Methods for cleaning up Clean contaminated surface thoroughly. Use clean non-sparking tools to collect absorbed material.

6.4. Reference to other sections See Section 7,8,13 for more information.

SECTION 7: Handling and storage

7.1. Precautions for safe handling Handle only under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Art. 18 (4). Comply with
