DOWNTOWN MIAMI SMART CORRIDOR HUB TRANSPORTATION MOBILITY CONNECTIVITY STUDY EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This study examines connectivity and accessibility between the different transportation modes in Greater Downtown Miami. A network of 14 Mobility Hubs is identified to support multimodal travel within the context of the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan. Recommendations for first and last mile improvements are provided for each hub in the network. Detailed analysis is provided for two focus sites: The Underline Hub and MiamiCentral Hub. FIRST & LAST MILE TOOLKIT OF STRATEGIES UPDATE DIGITALLY-INTEGRATED SHARED MOBILITY Downtown mobility hubs will cater to conventional transportation modes and to the demand for app-based shared mobility services such as carshare, bikeshare, and e-scooters. Miami-Dade Transit Metromover Fleet Management Plan _______________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ Roosevelt Bradley Director June 2003 Revision III Mission Statement “To meet the needs of the public for the highest quality transit service: safe, reliable, efficient and courteous.” ________________________________________________________________ Metromover Fleet Management Plan June 2003 Revision III MIAMI-DADE TRANSIT METROMOVER FLEET MANAGEMENT PLAN June 2003 This document is a statement of the processes and practices by which Miami- Dade Transit (MDT) establishes current and projected Metromover revenue- vehicle fleet size requirements and operating spare ratio. It serves as an update of the October 2000 Fleet Management Plan and includes a description of the system, planned revenue service, projected growth of the system, and an assessment of vehicle maintenance current and future needs. Revisions of the October 2000 Fleet Management Plan contained in the current plan include: • Use of 2-car trains as a service improvement to address overcrowding during peak periods • Implementation of a rotation program to normalize vehicle mileage within the fleet • Plans to complete a mid-life modernization of the vehicle fleet Metromover’s processes and practices, as outlined in this plan, comply not only with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Circular 9030.1B, Chapter V, Section 15 entitled, “Fixed Guideway Rolling Stock,” but also with supplemental information received from FTA. This plan is a living document based on current realities and assumptions and is, therefore, subject to future revision. The plan is updated on a regular basis to assist in the planning and operation of Metromover. The Fleet Management Plan is structured to present the demand for service and methodology for analysis of that demand in Section Two. -

To date, the majority of North American research that focus on quantifying the rail infrastructure loading conditions has been conducted on heavy-haul freight railroads. However, the results and recommendations of these studies may not be applicable to the rail transit industry due to a variety of factors. Unlike the freight railroads, which have standardized maximum gross rail loads and superstructure design practices for vehicles, the rail transit industry is home to a significant variety of vehicle and infrastructure designs. Some of the current transit infrastructure design practices, which were established decades ago, need to be updated with respect to the current loading environment, infrastructure types, and understanding of the component and system-level behavior. This study focuses on quantifying the current load environment for light rail, heavy rail, and commuter rail transit infrastructure in the United States. As an initial phase of this study, researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) have conducted a literature review of different metrics, which is used to evaluate the static, dynamic, impact, and rail seat loads for the rail transit infrastructure. -

Rodgers comes to FIU from Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA). “We are looking forward to having Dr. Rodgers lead The Wolfsonian–FIU into the next phase of its development. The museum is an incredible resource to our community and the art world,” said FIU Provost and Executive Vice President Kenneth G. Furton. “His track record of creating synergies between art and education made him the ideal candidate.” Rodgers officially takes the reins on July 1. The Wolfsonian–FIU is a museum, library, and research center devoted to art and design, with a collection of about 120,000 objects from the period 1885–1945. The collection includes a variety of media, from furniture and art to rare books and propaganda posters. Museum founder Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson Jr. praised the selection of Rodgers as director. “Tim is fully poised for his new challenge. His appointment enthusiastically approved by The Wolfsonian and FIU will give us all new confidence and undoubtedly new directions in order to maintain the institution as a world leader in transmitting the importance of design from one generation to the next, which is the highest responsibility of an educational research institution,” Wolfson said. As director of The Wolfsonian–FIU, Rodgers hopes to expand the physical museum, as well as begin the process of making most of the museum’s permanent collection available online. -

Knight Foundation. Having started the position in late July 2018, Merhi rounds out The Wolfsonian’s curatorial team with his extensive experience integrating ambitious online and technology-based tools in the galleries and beyond— skills that are integral to the long-term Wolfsonian goal of forging new avenues for visitors to connect with special exhibitions and the permanent collection. The tech-focused position is one of eight across the country funded by Knight Foundation to help art institutions implement digital strategies that improve the visitor experience and expand audiences. “A large part of a museum’s success in the digital era depends on its ability to leverage technology to take risks and engage audiences. Carmody, M.Des Energy & Environments 2019 Problem: This research aims to visualize and better understand future required housing stock necessary to accommodate displaced populations in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood affected by sea level rise and resultant tidal inundation by the year 2100 (NOAA Office for Coastal Management). Property data, local geography and NOAA sea-level rise projections within this time-scale are used in order to propose greater density in Miami due to lost surface area. This study evaluates the existing spatial capacity and density distribution under current zoning policy, Miami 21. This study reveals that the current zoning code, overlay districts, and Neighborhood Development Zones (NDZ) within the population catchment area of Allapattah are maladaptive. - The spatial analysis in this research assumes a residential occupancy of 1 person per 450 square feet (41.8m2), and floor to floor heights of 14’-0” (4.2m). - The criteria for this displacement assumes intracity relocation within Miami’s urban core, and excludes populations affected outside of the target study area of Allapattah. - This model assumes relocation within a population catchment area in Allapattah at elevations of 6’-0” above sea level and assumes density increases along Miami’s legacy Metrorail system. - This study excludes future population growth from the required future housing scenario.
