MUS. DOC, MAGD. COLL., OXON. Cassell Fetter & Galpin LONDON, PARIS & NEW YORK. V Novell o, Ewer & Co.: LONDON. [all rights reserved.] PREFACE. No apology is needed, I hope, for issuing in this form the substance of the series of articles which I contributed to the Bible Educator. Some of the statements which I brought forward in that work have received further con- firmation by wider reading; but some others I have ventured to qualify or alter. Much new matter will be fotmd here which I trust may be of interest to the general reader, if not of use to the professional. I fully anticipate a criticism to the effect that such a subject as the development of musical instruments should rather have been allowed to stand alone than have been associated with Bible music. But I think all will admit that the study of the history of ancient nations, whether with reference to their arts, religion, conquests, or language, seems to gather and be concentrated round the Book of Books, and when once I began to treat of the com- parative history of musical instruments, I felt that a few more words, tracing their growth up to our own times, would make this little work more complete and useful than if I should deal only with the sparse records of Hebrew music. -

Chapter 1 Introduction
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background of The Problem Social class as one of a social factor that play a role in language variation is the structure of relationship between groups where people are clasified based on their education, occupation, and income. Social class in which people are grouped into a set of hierarchical social categories, the mos common being the upper, middle, working class, and lower classes. Variation in laguage is an important topic in sociolinguistics, because it refers to social factror in society and how each factor plays a role in language varieties. Languages vary between ethnic groups, social situations, and spesific location. In social relationship, language is used by someone to represent who they are, it relates with strong identity of a certain social group. In this study the writer concern about swear words in rap song lyric. Karjalainen (2002:24) “swearing is generally considered to be the use of language, an unnecessary linguistic feature that corrupts our language, sounds unpleasant and uneducated, and could well be disposed of”. It can be concluded that swear words are any kind of rude language which is used with or without any purpose. Usually we can finds swear words on rap songs. Rap is one of elements of hip-hop culture that has been connected to the black people. The music of the artists who were born during 80’s appeared to present the music in a way that describes as a social critique. This period of artists focused on the social issue of black urban life, which later forulated hardcore activist, and gangster rap genres of hip-hop rap. -

A Feminist Critique of Nicki Minaj's Barbie Persona

As one of the newest members of an elite group of emcees and rappers within the hip-hop genre, Nicki Minaj displays her talent for theatrics by personifying some of her favorite alter egos. While other female emcees (femcees) have appeared throughout pop culture such as Lil’ Kim and Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj arguably is the first to obtain this level of fame and notoriety. The release of her debut album Pink Friday in 2010 was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, making her the first artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at once (Iandoli). There is no doubt that Nicki Minaj’s alter egos, especially Harajuku Barbie, have helped establish her as a powerful femcee and have given her a lasting place in hip- hop history. Throughout Minaj’s time in the spotlight, her audience has seen her morph from one character to the next, all adorned with different outfits, different tonalities, and different postures. -

SZÁZADI ÉS A KORTÁRS ZENÉBEN SALVI NÓRA TÉMAVEZETŐ: JENEY ZOLTÁN DLA DOKTORI ÉRTEKEZÉS 2011 10.18132/LFZE.2012.21 SALVI NÓRA KELET-ÁZSIAI DUPLANÁDAS HANGSZEREK ÉS A HICHIRIKI HASZNÁLATA A 20. SZÁZADI ÉS A KORTÁRS ZENÉBEN DLA DOKTORI ÉRTEKEZÉS 2011 Absztrakt A disszertáció megírásában a fő motiváció a hiánypótlás volt, hiszen a kelet-ázsiai régió duplanádas hangszereiről nincs átfogó, ismeretterjesztő tudományos munka sem magyarul, sem más nyelveken. A hichiriki olyan hangszer, mely nagyjából eredeti formájában maradt fenn a 7. századtól napjainkig. -

** Yrd. Doç.Dr., Yıldırım Beyazıt Üniversitesi, Türk Musikisi Devlet Konservetuvarı Bölümü Öğretim Üyesi, [email protected] 127 folklor / edebiyat paydası bulunan Türk ve Arap medeniyetin müziklerinde de pek çok müşterek unsur bulunmaktadır. Türk Müziği Ve Tarihsel Gelişimi Türk müziği; saray, tekke ve medreselerden destek görerek tarihi süreç içersinde tek sesli olarak gelişen, yenilenen, kendine öz makam, usûl ve tekniğe sahip sesli ve sözlü müziktir(Öztuna, 1976:346).
