“As D’Angelo’s freshman year Resident Assistant and the current President of Western Illinois University’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon I have seen him grow immensely. D’Angelo is the epitome of the Student of the Year – he always looks for ways to help others, which shows in his involvement with organizations such as Inter-Hall Council, Marathon, and Warrior Dog Dash. His passion and drive are contagious and he is an inspiration to all those around him. There is no one better suited for the Student of the Year Award.” – Levi Campbell

As soon as he joined the committee, he jumped right in, making an effort to contribute ideas and get to know everyone. He followed through without complaint. Even better, he did it with a smile. To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of D’Angelo Barrett in support of his nomination for the Student of the Year Award. I am pleased to have the opportunity to write this letter as a recommendation on his performance as a student leader who attended a variety of conferences and utilized many leadership opportunities last year within University Housing and Dining Services at Western Illinois University.

D’Angelo served in the role of a Bayliss-Henninger representative to Inter-Hall Council and also attended student conferences such as IRHA and NACURH last year. In addition to attending these conferences D’Angelo contributed a great deal of time and energy to the delegations including presenting bids, working on bid presentations, and working with his peers to create displays. D’Angelo has been an excellent addition to the WIU community and has worked hard to serve his peers. As a former advisor of D’Angelo, I was able to see him grow into a visible leadership role while maintaining a great rapport with his peers. Recently, D’Angelo transitioned into the resident assistant role and has continued to work hard with his team to advocate and support the residents in the Lincoln-Washington-Grote hall complex.

D’Angelo’s kindness, open-mindedness, and leadership experiences are an asset to the people he interacts with. He is able to work with a variety of people and has contributed actively to the greater WIU community. Overall, I enthusiastically support D’Angelo for Student of the Year.

Please feel free to contact me regarding D’Angelo’s qualifications at (309) 298-3328 or via email at [email protected]

Sincerely,
