Date: …………………………………………… March 2021 Page 2 of 3 INFORMATION REGARDING MEMORIALS & FLORAL TRIBUTES PERMITTED IN CEMETERIES All New installations carried out by Stonemasons MUST be placed in the correct position on the allocated grave space. • Your attention is drawn to the following extracts from those sections of the Regulations that apply to memorials or floral tributes that are permitted on grave spaces in the Council’s Cemeteries. • No types of memorial other than those specified below are allowed in Lawn Sections and Cremated Ashes Sections of the Council Cemeteries. Memorials 1. A memorial stone, not exceeding 3 feet in height and 2 feet 6 inches in width, and not less than 3 inches not more than 5 inches in thickness; mounted on a plinth not exceeding 5 inches in height, 3 feet in width or 12 inches in thickness. OR 2. An open book, or scroll, with a base not exceeding 2 feet in width and 12 inches in breadth and not more than 2 feet in height. OR 3. A carved figure or cross with base not exceeding 2 feet in width and 12 inches in breadth, and height not exceeding 2 feet 6 inches. OR 4. A vase not exceeding 15 inches in height and 12 inches x 12 inches at the base and bearing an inscription identifying a deceased person(s) buried in the grave. OR 5. A tablet 24 inches x 18 inches OR 6. In the permitted areas only – a kerb set measuring 7ft. by 3ft. with or without incorporated headstone (regulations as per section 1). Ashes Sections The only permitted memorial is a tablet of dimensions 15 inches x 12 inches with or without inset flower holder and set into the ground with the face of the tablet flush with ground level.
