New members joining the network during 2013 are not accredited members until they have been through the accreditation process. The network therefore includes both accredited and unaccredited members but in due course the new members will be accredited, and will not be retained as members of the network if they fail to meet the required standards. 2 Contents Chairman’s statement 4 Message from our CEO 5 Our global network 6 Trustees report 8 Legal and administrative information 8 Vision and mission 9 Achievements in 2013 10 Plans for 2014 21 Organisation, governance and accountability 22 Financial summary 24 Financial statements 26 Independent auditors’ report 26 Statement of financial activities 27 Balance sheet 28 Cash flow statement 29 Notes on financial statements 30 ANNUAL REPORT 3 Chairman’s statement Youth Business International, In 2013 we made great progress a global network focused across the network, helping more exclusively on supporting than 14,000 young people to under-served young start their own business, and entrepreneurs, is dedicated to providing entrepreneurship helping young people reach training to nearly 200,000. their entrepreneurial potential.
