I. INTRODUCTION A. GENERAL As in many other countries, the government of Netherlands New Guinea has undertaken the comprehensive task of promoting and developing the territorial fisheries in co-operation with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations and the South Pacific Commission. So far as the Inland Fisheries Section is concerned, this task comprises in the main the operation of fisheries in open waters (lakes, swamps, rivers) and pisciculture in ponds and other suitable inland waters. The fundamental problems in this field were: a) knowledge of the indigenous fish varieties that may have economic value; b) knowledge of the fish stocks; c) research into the ecological conditions in which the fish stocks occur. B. INDIGENOUS FISH VARIETIES The first-mentioned problem - fish varieties - has been the subject of intensive studies of BLEEKER, DE BEAUFORT, MAX VffiBER, MUNRO, BOESEMAN, and others. Their researches revealed that among the locally found ATHERINIDAE, MUGILIDAE, LUTJANIDAE, APOGONIDAE, ARRIDAE, GOBIIDAE, ELECTRIDAE, PLEURONECTOIDES, and ELASMOBRANCHIDAE, there were few varieties of actual economic value. Only MUGILIDAE, which species was hot being fished for with the primitive equipment used, and LUTJANIDAE, could be regarded as species of possible economic signific ance. Catches of LUTJANUS JOHNII on Lake Sentani alone total 6£ metric tons annually. Improved fishing methods may raise this production to 12 metric tons. -

Sayuti, [email protected] Abstract. The aim of this study was to identify proximate, amino acid and fatty acid content of gabus Sentani or Sentani gudgeon (Oxyeleotris heterodon). The samples were taken from Lake Sentani, Jayapura, Indonesia. AOAC, LC-MS and GC-MAS were the standards used to test proximate, amino acid and fatty acid content, respectively. Findings showed that O. heterodon contained 11.7% of water, 21.83% of ashes, 59.59% of protein, 1.20% of fat, 12.0% of carbohydrate, and 17.85% of crude fiber. Concerning the essential amino acids the species contained 3.40% L-Lycine, 1.66% L-Leucine, 1.27% L- Arginine, and 1.02% L-Valine, while non-essential amino acids were 3.07% L-Glutamic Acid, 1.75% L- Aspartic acid, and 1.24% L-Alanine. Fatty acids of O. heterodon were C15:1 (cis-10) Fatty acid (55.93%), C18:0 Methyl ester (16.25%), C17:1 (cis-10) Methyl ester (8.5%) and C16:0 Methyl ester (7.75%). Based on the findings, it is suggested that O. heterodon has a high protein content and thus, may serve as alternative source of protein for human consumption. Lake Toba area has been designated a National Strategic Area, which is a priority spatial planning area. The Simanindo Area is a sub-district in Samosir Regency which is an island in the middle of Lake Toba, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Lake Toba's current condition has been polluted by organic contamination and high free chlorine. In addition, the existence of fish farming activities or floating net cages that contribute to the contamination of phosphorus by 0.78 mg/l and free chlorine by 0.84 mg/l into Lake Toba which resulted in the need for studies on the carrying capacity and environmental capacity. Land carrying capacity can be calculated by comparing the availability of land with land requirements. While the carrying capacity of water can be calculated by comparing the availability of water with water requirements or using the Thornwaite Mather Water Balance method. Land Capacity can be calculated by the Land Endurance Unit. While the Capacity of Waters can be calculated by STORET analysis or calculation of domestic waste pollution load. The existence of a massive development plan for Simanindo area and rapid population growth is projected to cause the Land Support Capacity of the Simanindo Priority Zone to be conditionally safe in 2040. -

The study is based on literature and secondary data and used descriptive analysis. The traditional communities of Sentani do not yet fully participate in the development of tourism in its surroundings. Their involvement in tourism development is more focused on ceremonial activities such as can be seen at the Lake Sentani Festival which is organized every year by the government. -

Frank, Fredrik Sokoy and Usman Idris Cenderawasih University, Indonesia This article aims to describe and analyze the values of local wisdom possessed by the Sentani indigenous community in managing the environment. It is particularly the management of Lake Sentani which is the source of livelihood for indigenous communities who are commonly living around Lake Sentani . The method used in this research is a qualitative method with data collection techniques in- depth interviews, observation and focused discussion. The results of the study show that lakes are a source of life for Sentani communities. They are bounded by their values of harmony with nature. For this reason, they guard the lake by subsistently utilizing natural resources with traditional rituals. They are carried out to sanctify the place in the framework of sustainable maintenance and management. Keywords: Local wisdom, Indigenous community, Sentani lake, Papua. Introduction Ecologically, the adaptation patterns of indigenous Papuans to the environment follow the three major regional ecological zones, namely: (1) adaptation patterns to the ecological zones of coastal, coastal and small island communities, (2) patterns of adaptation to the ecological zones of lowland communities and feet mountains, and (3) adaptation patterns to the ecological zones of the mountain and inland communities. Papuan indigenous people who adapt to these three ecological zones have heterogeneity, namely social institutions, cultural values and equipment. -
