PRESIDENT’S REPORT

A lot can happen the course of a cricket season, and 2016/17 was no exception. Thankfully, so much of what happened was absolutely positive, making it a truly successful year both on and off the field for our club. Without a doubt in my mind, the culture of our club was captured in full with the ‘Going In To Bat For Volpe’ day in February. One of our members was in a time of need, and in typical Langwarrin C.C. style we very quickly jumped in and did everything we could to help. It took an army of helpers to make it a reality, but the end result was truly amazing and helped Nathan, Shanelle and Jed through a difficult period. After everything wrapped up on the Sunday night, it reminded me how truly lucky we are to be involved in such an amazing club. A hearty congratulations to Jamie Jewiss and our 6th XI for winning back-to-back premierships. This season saw a new breed of fathers and sons filtered through the team, but what didn’t change was the fun and educational environment Jamie has created with this group. Even in the Grand Final, with their backs against the wall, they rallied and won in remarkable circumstances. As an Executive Committee we have been extremely transparent with regards to our financial status. It’s no secret that three years ago things were in a perilous state and needed some urgent attention. Seeing the club’s bank balance in such a healthy state now, to the point where we are having conversations about investments and improvement works is extremely pleasing. There has been no secret formula, it’s very simply been a case of head down, bums up to turn things around. With that said, I simply cannot thank those involved in the running of the club enough for their hard work this season. Without Craig Morrow, this place would simply not run day to day. He does 1000 things every week that most wouldn’t even realise needs to be done, and doesn’t ever seek a pat on the back for it. Chris Bartlett has been a huge find for our club as Treasurer and here’s hoping he stays in the role for a long time to come. He is meticulous with our finances and a voice of reason on important club matters. I say this every year because I truly believe it. We have the best Junior Coordinator walking this earth! Darren Guinea is an amazing person who gives everything he has for our club, day in and day out. It is a thankless role and unfortunately you will never please everyone, however Darren does an amazing job of running our junior club to be a well-oiled machine. And of course, everyone’s favourite and one of my favourites, Wendy White. I feel extremely lucky to know her, let alone have had the opportunity to have worked so closely with her for so many years. Nothing ever slips through the cracks, and she’s three steps ahead of everyone and everything. Also to the entire committee- Taylor Smith, Matt Prosser, Mitch Bromley, Chris Jamieson, Kellie Brooker and Jarryd Amalfi and Rohan Puls, thank you so much for all of your time, ideas and hard work this season. I hope you gained plenty of satisfaction from your involvement this season. A club of our size can’t function without the terrific support of our Sponsors, and we are extremely fortunate to have so many who share our vision. Frankston RSL, Tobin Building Group, Andersons Removals, Polyplus, Harcourts Real Estate and Jayco/Page Bros are our major partners and I would continue to encourage you to support them at every opportunity. Congratulations to our Captain/Coach Travis Campbell on being crowned Dick and Sylvia Cavill Shield winner for the first time. Trav and his family have been enormous additions to our club, and Trav has done a wonderful job teaching our playing group how hard you need to train and play to be successful. This year history was created when for the first time a

Junior player won our Wintercooke Trophy. This is an incredible achievement and one that Josh Edwards should be extremely proud of. Josh, you are a young man with the right attitude and a love for the game like no other, and I look forward to seeing you develop to become a First XI cricketer in the coming years. It is with great sadness that I write my final Presidents Report. I had great intentions to fill the role for a few more years, however my growing work commitments are going to make it extremely difficult to continue to fulfil it to my absolute most. It was a decision that hurt me to make, but it was a necessary one for the club to continue to move forward. I bleed sky blue and white, and have done since the first day I arrived at the club as a 10 year old in 1995. This won’t change. Ever! Langwarrin C.C. has been a huge part of my life and will always hold a special place in my heart. It will feel a bit strange to not be there every day, but I’ll be around don’t you worry about that.

Thanks to everyone for being involved in such a successful season for our club.

COACH’S & FIRST XI REPORT

After a great pre-season, we went into this year with a few goals set in place for the playing group, it has been amazing to see those goals reached…We talked about making finals, and we did that, we made the semi final…unfortunately we were not able to come home with the win, but proud of the boys for the effort and consistency they showed throughout the season.

There are always highs and lows throughout any cricket season and I am happy to say we had more highs than lows. With Mat Campbell joining the ranks this year, another spinner into the attack with Matt and Jake Prosser, giving us not only a strong attack, but now a 6-7 player bowling attack also, not doubt contributing to see us undefeated before Christmas.

The one dayer against POB saw us come stuck, and our winning streak come to an end, however the positive to come from this was, experience, the boys realized if we want to compete in provincial, we need to work hard and work together, this included Jake and I, and I believe we worked well together as Captain and Vice Captain, to make sure we had everyone on the same page for each and every game.

This year also saw standout performances by younger players with Aaron Edwards making 99 against Mt Eliza to secure the win, thanks to Mitch Bromley for the 1… and Jai Elcock debuting in round one against Somerville, making 37, Riley Davie also making his 1’s debut against Long Island in front of the home crowd, shows depth and talent that we have coming through the ranks. This includes players like Sam Prosser and Joel Bateman, both playing 1st cricket for majority of the season, sometimes without bowling or batting down the order, but never once did they lose sight of our goal…our team goal…to play finals cricket and I can’t thank those boys enough for being the backbone of our team.

Whilst Coutta may have spent more time swiping right, then bending his back, his experience and knowledge was instrumental, he was a stand out in many games whether with the ball or bat, it was a pleasure to have him in my side and I wish him all the best at Balnarring. There is no one more experience than Simon McAvoy and to have him along side us this season was a highlight, always dependable and an exceptional bloke.

It was great to see another young talent return to the club, in Matt Davie, he was excellent with the ball when required and showed that again we have a wealth of young talent coming through, we just need him to keep his shirt on!!

Our fielding improved massively this season, Tay Smith working hard behind the stumps and digging in with the bat when needed was another credit to how we made it so far this season. If there was a foot race to the boundary, there is no other bloke you want chasing that ball than Joel Bateman, not only is he lightening in the field, he puts that ball over the stump every time he throws it in, then fixes his hair! Don’t worry Joely we love you for it mate!

Some huge Thank you’s to Rob Prosser and Tim Harper for their amazing efforts with training and warm ups, I honestly don’t think the boys would have made it this far without your knowledge and support. Thanks to Roger for his efforts throughout the year, including keeping a few slices from afternoon tea aside for Loz to keep her quiet! To the boys, thank you for being such great blokes to not only coach and captain, but to be around. As I hand the coaching rains over the Jake for next season, I am looking forward to what it brings, I look forward to a bigger and better season and bringing home that FLAG!! Go ROOS!!!

JUNIOR CO-ORDINATORS’ REPORT

What a great season the Junior Club had this season. We started off strongly with great numbers at registration in which we fielded 12 teams in all year levels from Under 10 to Under 16, which was one more team than last season. We had 7 sides play finals with 2 teams unfortunately not making finals. Our club was lucky to have 2 sides play off in the grand Finals with our Under 14 Premier side being Runners Up to Carrum Downs and 0ur Under 12 Premier side winning their Grand Final against Balnarring. Well done to all teams for making the finals and representing our club with pride.

Friday nights this year were massive at the club where on a couple of occasions all 4 teams (Under 16’s & 3 Under 10’s) were playing at home and it was great to see so many families down supporting their kids

All our coaches did a great job this year and put a lot of time into their role and I thank you for their efforts this season. 2016/17 coaches were –Todd Elcock, Steve Brooker, Paul Morrow, Jamie Jewiss, Matthew Moore, Gary Rees, Colin Hammond, Adam Richmond, Luke Smith, Matthew Sossi, Paul Poulios, Noel Hudgson, Kevin Murphy & Andy Eigneraam.

This Season we had the following players play Representative Cricket this season: Jai Elcock, Dodi Ibrahim, Lachlan Jamieson, Joshua Edwards, Jai Culley, Jesse Jewiss, Jaymon Jewiss, Jackson Wenske, Ben Hopkins and Kyle Parrott.

A massive thankyou has to go to Matthew Prosser for his efforts this season with the Juniors from the Under 16’s right down to our Milo Cricketers:

 He was responsible for ensuring we had a strong relationship with the Senior & Junior club by getting senior players to regularly attend Junior training sessions to help them with their cricket skills.  He was our On-field Milo In2Cricket Co-ordinator where we had 40 boys & girls participate every Friday night for an 8-week program. He Matthew also arranged for a number of Senior players to come down ad help run the drills. The feedback from the parents was excellent all the kids seemed to have a ball every week.  Finally, Matthew coached our inaugural u18 T20 side that played against other sides in the League similar the senior Jack Peacock cup. The boys seemed to enjoy this format of the game as well. Please find below Coaches Reports for most our teams:

U16 Premier & Provincial

In the 2016/17 season the under 16's were able to have 2 teams.

We trained as a whole squad once a week with several players also training with the seniors on a Thursday night and 9-10 players also playing senior cricket at different stages throughout the season and representing the junior club very well.

5th June 2017 Page 13

Langwarrin Cricket Club 2016/17 Annual Report Our goal at the beginning of the season was to use the 2 under 16 sides as an opportunity to get players used to a selection process as used in the senior clu , rewarding a player if doing well in the second side and alternately if a player was struggling in the top side to go down and get some confidence. I felt this was a success as it certainly created an amount of desire to either keep their spots or strive to better themselves. This message was communicated to both players and parents at the beginning of the season so everyone had an understanding of what we were trying to achieve.

Throughout the season, we were able to have different senior players take training and also the senior coach take training just prior to finals which was extremely successful due to Matt Prosser being very helpful and active in this area.

The Premier side was made up of 7 top age players and 4 bottom age players most of the season with 2 of the players from the second side also playing in the semi-final.

We won 7 and lost 2 games for the year and made the semi-final in which we unfortunately didn't make enough runs to defend and unfortunately lost.

I feel the players enjoyed their cricket this season and I would think out of the 7 players that are ready to play senior cricket next year 5-6 of the players should return to the club to play senior cricket.

I thank the club for the opportunity to coach these young men, it was an absolute privilege.

Regards

Todd Elcock.

U14 Premier

I would first off like to thank the club for allowing me the opportunity to coach one of our Junior teams. Leading into the season I knew I had a great group of boys to coach. We had a lot of talent in this side as well as a few younger age players with heaps of ability & the willingness to continue to improve which made my job easy as coach. The boys trained really hard throughout the year & only just missed out on the ultimate prize in winning a premiership. To make it through to the Grand Final was a great achievement from the boys. We had some amazing individual performances on the way with bat & ball. We managed to have 8 scores of 50no from five different players: Jesse Jewiss 3; Jai Culley 2, Josh Edwards 1, Tom Sullivan 1 & Nathan Guinea 1 We also had some great efforts with the ball Jai Culley Hat-Trick Leading wicket takers: Jesse Jewiss 11,Jai Culley 10,Ben Charles 10,Bailey Jamieson 7,Josh Guinea 6. Nathan Guinea behind the stumps was exceptional & trained very hard on his craft & was rewarded with no byes in the finals campaign. We had 3 boys play rep cricket: Josh Edwards, Jai Culley, Jesse Jewiss This was an amazing group of 12 I had the pleasure to coach & it would be remiss of me not to mention the support I had from the parents. Cheers,

Jewy

Langwarrin Cricket Club 2016/17 Annual Report U14 Provincial

A developing year for the U/14 boys with some brilliant moments at times, and some learning opportunities with others.

We were competitive with the top sides all year, just our consistency in getting all three batting, bowling & fielding aspects all spot on in the same game being our fall down. Would like to say that we had 2 opposition teams on toast before 2nd week washouts spoiled our certain victory celebrations.

Overall a group of eager and engaged lads who we hope have picked up a couple of tips that will greatly help them in their cricket years to come.

The side was led by opening batter and keeper Liam Romey, who set up most innings with some great knocks, Liam walking away with the batting award.

Our bowling improved steadily during the year, with left armed leggy Nick Curran taking the honours which was impressive for a young spinner to achieve.

Thanks very much to Assistant Coach Greg Talbot for his valuable support along with Ray Curran and Dan Phillips.

Looking forward to next year. Cheers, Matt Moore

U12 District

This year was a challenging and successful year for the u12’s District team. We didn’t get off to the greatest of starts with our first win coming in the last over of our round 4 game. Once this first win was on the board, the boys didn’t look back and the results continued go our way for the rest of the season. We ended the year in third position on ladder which extremely satisfying finish to year. It was absolute pleasure to coach the boys and I’ll keeping eye on their development of the boys throughout the years.

Adam Richmond

U12 Sub District

Matt Sossi & I teamed up for season 2016/17 to lead the Under 12 Sub District side. We took on a group of first year players to Under 12s and their results far outweighed my expectations. Making the finals only to be bundled out by the eventual premiers was an achievement we are both extremely proud of.

This team had three players in their very first season of cricket. Ashton, Jackson and Ollie all showed massive improvement throughout the year and soon established themselves as integral parts of our side. Brodie & Tyler shared the wicket keeping duties during the year

5th June 2017 Page 15

Langwarrin Cricket Club 2016/17 Annual Report and both became solid batsmen, Tyler also showed a lot of promise with the ball. Charlie started the season in a hard-hitting fashion but soon learned he required a defensive aspect to his game. While struggling to land the ball early he developed a fluent bowling action that created some consistency. While both Joel & Alice could have been disappointed with their figures at year end, I was extremely proud of how they developed. In my opinion if they both had 2-3 more games this season, they both could have dominated. The ever reliable Jacob changed the angle of his bowling to be even more accurate than ever and added several new shots to his batting. Tom took out both our batting and bowling awards and deservedly so. He is a great talent that I hope to see continue to develop over several years. Levi is the best fielder I have seen for his age with an arm stronger than some men, he also has great ability with both bat & ball. He’s highlight was his 52no against Pearcedale, our highest individual score for the year.

Special thanks go out to Jacquie Phillips who put her hand up early in the year to be our scorer. She had never done it before but quickly picked it up. This freed Matt & Myself up to coach and umpire on game days and we greatly appreciate your help.

More thanks go out to Josh, Mark, Adam & Stuart Bath. Your input and support throughout the year was greatly appreciated. To Dan Phillips & Keith Mason who never missed a training. Weather it was just fielding balls or bringing cold drinks along on hot nights, your help didn’t go un noticed.

None of this happens without the hard work and dedication of Darren Guinea. He makes coaching a cricket side an absolute pleasure and the support he gives his coaches allows us to simply coach and not get bogged down in ground preparation and admin.

From both Matt and myself thank you to every player and parent for making this season so enjoyable and we look forward to seeing you next year.

Luke Smith

U12 Peninsula

A sensational year by these boys. All boys were bottom age players and some playing for the first time with no under 10 experience. We made the finals and nearly won our semi-final. I believe all players will play again next season and they had a great experience as we changed the order each game by moving everyone 3 places. Some boys are eligible for two more years of 12 s too. An excellent group of boys and parents.

Paul Poulios

U10/1

We had a great group of boys who gelled very well together. Quite a few of these boys had never played before and it was a bit of a battle with only 9 kids (sometimes less) competing as a team. I was most impressed with the outstanding improvement in all the boys from the start until the last game. They were willing to learn and put into practice my instructions & guidelines, especially regarding practising at home. I have enjoyed coaching these boys very much. Would like to thank Emma for being a great Team Manager, also thanks to all the parents who helped in other ways throughout the season.

Noel Hudgson.

U10/2

This was the second year that most of the team had been together. Whilst we played the majority of the season with 10 players, the addition of Zac and Isabelle after Christmas added two good players to our team. The players in their second year showed a great deal of improvement with all facets of their game developing after increased practise and match time. The team had some consistent performances throughout the season notching up some memorable wins and some memorable individual performances. We were fortunate enough to have a great level of assistance from all the parents which added to the enjoyment of the season.

Kevin Murphy

U10/3

The team came on in leaps and bounds from taking training a bit more seriously which ment on game day it made sense out in the middle like sliding the bat when you go for a run to loud calls of yes and no and backing up the throw and when they did it we all really enjoyed it and the parents all cheered it was a joy to watch the kids grow in confidence

Andy Eigenraam

I thoroughly enjoyed another year as Junior Co-ordinator and I would like to thank all families for their effort and support and I look forward to seeing everyone again for a bigger and more successful 201/18 season.

TEAM REPORTS

SECONDS

Three captains in one season is hardly conventional, however this year for the 2nd XI was anything but! Firstly and most importantly, I speak on behalf of all the players when I say how happy we are to see our Captain Nathan Volpe making huge steps forward in his recovery. He was a huge motivator for us and seeing his health improve was a big reason for our great form in the second half of the season. Nath, you may not realise it, however having you there for our semi final meant the world to us. The club’s focus for this team was to really accelerate the development of our talented youngsters and try to get them in an environment similar to that of a First XI team, from warm ups to preparation and training habits. To do this, you need experienced players who have been there and done it before. Al Davie, Adrian Mack, Steve Byrne and Adam Richmond were outstanding contributors this team and helped create a genuine learning environment. I have no doubt in the years to come their imprint will be truly felt when we see the teams junior players progress to First XI cricket. In terms of the development, the proof is in the pudding. Mitch Reid was a wildcard selection for Round one, rewarded for a great pre-season. He took his opportunity and grabbed it with both hands, making 269 runs as an opening batter and showed maturity well beyond his years in the process. Whether it be with bat, ball or in the field, Riley Davie regularly showed his outstanding skills. Most importantly, we saw his confidence grow to the point where he was rewarded with First XI selection in Round 4. In the limited times that we had access to him, Jai Elcock proved that he has what it takes to make it not only at a very good level of cricket. We are all aware of his natural ability, however what is most important is the polite and respectful way Jai conducts himself. Sam Prosser’s against Mornington in Round 10 when the team really needed it was a huge step forward in his development, and an innings I hope he uses as a platform for years to come. Despite his tender age, Lachie Jamieson was not out of his depth at any stage in this team, be it with bat or ball. He’s going to grow to be a very big boy, which might be frightening for the opposition in the coming years!! FinalIy, I want to make special mention of Jarryd Bartlett, because his is the absolute definition of working hard and getting results. He finished the season with 17 wickets and became one of the team’s most reliable bowlers. Every player in the team is aware of how good he was when it mattered in the semi-final. The Semi-Final loss was a heartbreaker. To come so close and not walk away with the win was a bitter pill to swallow. I have no doubt that had we of won we would have been successful in the big one, however it shows how cruel the game can be! Lads, please use this loss as a driver for next season. Remember the pain you felt and use it to motivate you week in, week out.

Thanks for your support throughout the season, it was one I’ll never forget.

THIRDS

Firstly I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to captain the Third XI this season, it was a challenging season but we turned up to play every week and were never a side that was easy to beat. To all of the guys that played in the 3rd XI this season I would like to thank you for your efforts on the field as well as all the help many of you gave me throughout the season. I would like to specifically mention Damien Wust and Craig Edwards for going above and beyond for the whole season. Although it was disappointing to narrowly miss the finals this year we did have some stand out performances (listed below) and we were able to give opportunities to 6 young cricketers that had never played 3rd XI cricket previously and a few other young blokes that came down from the 2nd XI and contributed well. Our young blokes contributed every week and I’m sure this season provided a great stepping stone to higher grades of cricket, Lachie Jamieson, Austin Spring and Trent Eigenraam all had a taste of 2nd XI during this season and all contributed nicely to the 3rd XI season. The stand out performances from our young blokes this season include Lachie Jamieson finishing the season with a of 13.11 , Trent Eigenraam with a bowling average of 16.00 and Jesse Peacock with a bowling average of 21.80.

Scoring runs consistently proved to be difficult this season and it shows with our top 4 batting averages only playing an average of 3 games each in the 3rds for the season. Our top performances with the bat include Gary Rees 65, Mathew Poore 62, Luke Hodder 58, Matthew Moore 52 and from our young blokes some great individual performances when it mattered of 33 from Lachie Jamieson (opening the batting) and 30 from Austin Spring (also opening the batting).

Overall we performed very well with the ball all season long, our top performances include an amazing 6 wicket haul for Aubrey DeSilva in horrible conditions at Tyabb, other standout performances include 4/31 from Jarryd Bartlett, 4/21 from Lachie Jamieson, 4/32 from Damien Wust, 4/38 for Jesse Peacock who performed very well early in the season.

The highlight of our season was round 8 against the top side Mornington. We lost the toss and were sent in to bat and thanks to a terrific team batting performance we peeled off 7/257. An excellent 5th wicket partnership between Mathew Poore (62) and Luke Hodder (58) and some late hitting from Todd Elcock (35) getting the job done. The following week we bowled just as well as we batted with early wickets to Damien Wust (2/16) and Aubrey DeSilva (3/28) putting Mornington on the back foot straight away. Some tidy bowling from young Jackson Vaughn and Joshua Mack made scoring difficult allowing Austin Spring (3/27) and Luke Hodder to finish the job off late helping us to bowl them out 10/170. This game showcased our young blokes perfectly with terrific contributions with both the bat and the ball. This performance showed what we were capable of with this team, unfortunately we couldn’t perform consistently and ultimately that cost us our chance at the finals. It is exciting for our club to see so many talented young cricketers coming through the 3rd XI this season, I look forward to watching them play higher for many years to come. I would also like to mention all of the help we received from Nadia Wust this year, as always Nadia did a fantastic job scoring and helping us to sort out the book. Finally I would like to finish by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed the season and I look forward to seeing everyone next year to do it all again!

Regards

FOURTHS

I would like to thank the Langwarrin Cricket Club Executive Committee for giving me the opportunity to captain our Fourth XI team in 2016/17. I would like to thank Mal Reid for captaining the side for several games, as well as Gary Rees for his role of captain in our Semi Final. Our team consisted of a bunch of players affectionately known as the “old farts”, with most of us clearly past our best, but still holding on to the notion that we are in our prime. This year’s competition (B1) consisted of 8 teams, and it was evident early on in the season that 4 teams would clear out to play finals. We were one of those teams. The top 4 teams appeared to be very even (Langwarrin, Mornington, Heather Hill, and Baden Powell). Given this was the case, and with the talent we had in our team; winning the flag seemed an attainable goal.

After a good season full of excellent team and individual performances; we managed to secure 4th spot. We were set to take on Heather Hill in the Semi Final; a team we had beaten twice during the year. We rolled them for 159 on day one; a total we felt was achievable, but losing a couple of quick ones before close of play put them back in the game. Returning the next day, wickets started to fall; and Heather Hill got their backs up. They could smell victory. Gary Rees and Chris Bartlett battled hard and showed plenty of fight. Chris baker bravely shouldered up, wearing some chin music in a sign of defiance and character. Hayden Brooker was courageous going into bat with a fracture in his hip and a bruise the size of Kim Jong-un’s head. Sadly these courageous acts were not enough, and they rolled us with around 37 runs still required. The best team won on the day, and we were left to rue a season that could have been.

Some memorable and humorous highlights from the season are as follows:

 Luke Smith scoring 2 centuries.  Craig Edwards 140 runs in 25 overs.  Steve Brooker’s outstanding figures of 9/9.  Chris Baker’s 12/75 in an outright victory.  Mal Reid driving for 36 hours straight to get to a game, then bowling over 15 overs into a massive head wind to help the team secure victory. A massive effort, full of guts. Typical Mal Reid character.  Gary Rees courageous effort in the semi Final to make 54 runs and lead from the front. Gary was on one leg towards the end of his innings. I am sure I am unanimous in saying, if we all showed the same character and determination as Gary, I have no doubt there would be some “bling” around our necks.  Chris Bartlett’s batting performance in the Semi Final. A super effort elevating up the order, batting with Gary and setting the tone.  Our outright win against Crib Point. A superb team performance to get 19 wickets in one day.  Nick Brenton’s gully catch. A classic for all time.  Chris Bartlett’s near death experience falling in the pot hole on oval 3 when following through with his run up. He went down hard screaming that something had snapped. There was an uncanny likeness between this incident and the famous Gary Lyon

stretcher scene. On a serious note, it could have been a lot worse, with Chris almost missing out on a final due to injury.  Toddy Elcock, who genuinely has one of the safest pairs of hands in the business; dropping Dermott Brereton twice during the year. Plenty of fun was had with this one around Toddys love for Dermie.

Finally, we utilised over 20 players in our side this year. Sincere thanks to all team mates who played with us throughout the year.

Regards

FIFTHS

Hello family and friends. First off all I would like to congratulate the 6XI for their back to back premiership awesome effort for all the other sides well done on a good year and making finals let's all make it one better next year. For my side this year I wanted to try and give as many juniors a go when possible unfortunately I couldn't fit them in for the second half of the season cause of senior players being available and the one day comp folding their side. Dan Oliver round 8 with 9/19 off 20 overs and later on in the season he also got in round 10 6/20 off 17 overs.

Awards: Batting - Scott Morrow 49.80. Bowling - Dan Oliver 7.60. Fielding - Rick Nolde with 4 catches and runout.

In starting I would like to say job well done from Jack, Craig, Wendy, Chris & all of the committee. I would also like to say thank you for my reappointment of captain of the father son team. We have had an amazing season going through undefeated in the home & away & then going on & winning a Premiership. We achieved far beyond my expectations leading into the season. We came into the season with three U/14's boys & two U/16's boys. We had a new senior cricketer In Gavin Hiku join the club after having a twenty plus year break from the game to come back & win a senior premiership for the first time & to do it with his son Kai made it very special. We had a 250 game club legend Anthony Ramsdale win a Premiership with his Grandson Liam in his first full senior season & this is a very special one for both well done. We had Peter Edwards win another Premiership with his Son Josh in Josh's first senior year. We had Darren Guinea win another premiership with son Josh in Josh's first senior year. We also had Chris Jamieson which may be the only cricketer in the club to take up cricket over the age of forty & win two Premierships from two attempts .I was also lucky enough to go back to back with my Son Jesse, with one as 12 man. The Junior boys really stood up with the ball this year bowling 550 odd over out of maximum of 770 overs. Liam Ramsdale had standout figures of 6/19 against Heatherhill. Wicket takers Josh Edwards 22 Liam Ramsdale 21 Kai Hiku 18 Josh Guinea 13 Jesse Jewiss 6 With the Bat we had some great performances with Peter Edwards scoring two hundreds. I was lucky enough to score a hundred as well. We also had three of the Junior boys scoring 50's with Josh Edward scoring two. Jesse with a top score of 87 Josh Edwards 77 Liam Ramsdale 50 We also had a couple performance based awards. Josh Edwards winning the Wintercooke Trophy as minor club champion & the first junior to do so. We had Peter Edwards winning the Simon McEvoy perpetual trophy as leading run scorer .Peter & Josh Edwards also broke a 6th wicket club batting partnership in a partnership of 237.In closing I would like to thank all the senior cricketers in helping me with the development of these young men with a special mention to Peter Edwards. To all of my team mates thank you & good luck for the upcoming season of 2017/18,I am sure that whatever team that you all start in you will be a great acquisition for that team. Cheers, Jamie Jewiss
