I’d like to thank every senior captain and every junior coach for their outstanding contribution to the Langwarrin CC in season 2010-11. I want to congratulate all teams on their efforts this season. In particular, congratulations to the five senior teams who made it through to the grand final and to the Seconds, Sevenths and Eighths for tasting the ultimate success. Congratulations also to the three junior teams who played finals, our Premier U13, U15 and U17 sides. This year, Langwarrin CC entered the second year of its three year plan. After a tough season both on and off the field in 2009-10, we looked forward to building on the efforts of the previous year and carry-on our objectives of ensuring financial stability and credibility, engaging the local business community, encouraging our host of youth to play senior cricket and to continue to strive to return to Provincial grade. We can be satisfied that we were able to achieve the large majority of our objectives. In terms of bringing through juniors and integrating them into our senior systems, I’m proud to say that five U15s and seven U17s played senior cricket at Langwarrin CC this season. A further two played juniors with us and seniors at a neighboring club. We hope to have these guys in our senior system in the future. There were seven juniors who made their senior debut this season. In terms of financial stability, we secured $15,000 in sponsorship this season, as well as photoboard sponsorship. We also hosted an Esso Corporate Day, which netted the club $3500. Thanks to the drive of Geoff Lester and Peter Blood and the support of the legends and past players of our club, approximately $3000 was raised from an Auction Night and Past Players Day.

Celebrating 50 years of Cricket St. John Vianneys - St. Bede’s Old Collegians Cricket Club Inc. 50th Anniversary souvenir booklet 1961/62 to 2010/2011 1 Introduction St. John Vianney’s – St. Bede’s Old Collegians Cricket Club Inc. (St. John’s – St. Bede’s C.C.) was established in 1994 after the amalgamation of two clubs (St John Vianney’s Cricket Club and St Bede’s Old Collegians Cricket Club). These clubs were established in their own right in 1974 and 1961 respectively. Up until 1994 both clubs were affiliated with the F.D.C.A. in the Turf, Matting and Junior competitions. Both clubs were in the first grade turf competition but seeking better future options, voted to move to VTCA in 1994-95. Both clubs considered an amalgamation as a means of forming a strong local club ensuring future existence and growth. Since the amalgamation the Club joined the VTCA in 1994-95 season with the first eleven commencing its involvement in the South B1 division and in the following years progressed to the highest division available within the VTCA (Senior). In 2003 the club was accepted into the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association where it is looking forward to a long association. Kingston Saints (which is the playing name of the St. John Vianney’s – St. Bede’s Old Collegians Cricket Club Inc.), play in two different Competitions, our Senior Turf teams play in Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA) and our Junior teams play in the City of Moorabbin Cricket Association (C.M.C.A), and both are very well developed competitions and the C.M.C.A.

The Carlton Lockdown Newsletter Till the gates of Grange Loan are open again 11 January 2021 ISSUE 30 WINTER SPORTS It looks like those Carlton members who look forward at this time of year to visiting the Alpine ski slopes will have to stay at home. But why worry? Grange Loan has recently been a winter paradise. Gluhwein anyone? HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAHUL DRAVID In honour of the great Indian (and Scottish) batsman’s birthday on 11 January, Stevie Gilmour recalls an innings with him (well almost) during his spell playing for the Scottish Saltires. Rob and I proceeded to do our best impersonations of the Wall playing Test cricket and grafted to about 60 odd off 20 overs. I was 21 and battling shoulder injuries but trying to get back in the National Then, to our surprise, we see Crocky set up having injured my shoulder in running out with a pair of gloves that my 4th cap in 2002 (don’t ever ask neither of us had asked for. The plan about that match!!!!). from the boss was not exactly what we expected..... “for *** sake...one of So, when I got asked to play in an MCC you GET OUT ..... we have not come select side against the Scotland u19s I here to watch YOU bat”!!!! jumped at the chance. The added bonus I found out later was that Rahul Dravid Surprised and slightly annoyed, as I (and Fraser Watts!) would be playing.... was just beginning to find some form, in MY TEAM!!!!!! Rob and I came up with a plan of “smash everything and run When team manager Euan “Crocky” everything” McIntyre asked if I wanted to open the batting, I jumped at the chance.
