EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. (1992) from the University of Karachi. Topic of dissertation: "European Security System in the Post-Helsinki Accords Period: A Model for South Asia". The dissertation is a comparative study of the Helsinki framework of European Security and the South Asian Security system. It analyzes the problems and prospects in a way for Indo- normalization process and also spells out strategies for building confidence and resolving conflicts between the two countries as a pre-requisite for peace and stability in the South Asian region. The dissertation also suggests what lessons the South Asian countries can learn from the Helsinki model of European security and the post-Helsinki initiatives launched under the framework of Conference on Security and Conference in Europe (CSCE).
