Message from the Chair – May 2016

On behalf of ’s Sports Hall of Fame’s Board of Governors, I am pleased to present the 2015 Annual Report. 2015 marked the 60th anniversary of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s establishment in 1955 at Toronto’s CNE grounds by Harry Price. Since its move to in 2011, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame continues to be a truly national organization with programs, events, and traveling exhibits across our country. We are proud to include a total of 65 sports represented by our 605 inducted Honoured Members spanning nearly 150 years of Canadian sport history.

The Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame 2015 Induction Celebrations Presented by Canadian Tire were a huge success reaching over one million Canadians across the country. The nationally televised gala was a tribute to the Class of 2015 inductees selected to receive Canada’s highest sporting honour. In recognition of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s 60th anniversary and 2015 being proclaimed the Year of Sport by our Patron , Governor General of 2015-16 Board of Governors Canada, a second Legends group was identified. This amazing group of 46 individuals made their contributions to sport and to Canada primarily before 1955. These remarkable Colin P. MacDonald, Chair people fought for gender equality, broke down racial barriers, and promoted the development Geoff Beattie Sylvie Bigras of sport in Canada. The Class of 2015 and the Legends Class are a true inspiration to all Michelle Cameron-Coulter Canadians and we are proud to share their stories and life lessons. CANADA’S SPORTS HALL OF FAME 2015 INDUCTION CELEBRATIONS PRESENTED BY CANADIAN TIRE

Induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is the highest sporting honour in Canada. Each year, we induct a new class of athletes and sport builders into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame at the biggest annual celebration of sport in the country. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame 2015 Induction Celebrations presented by Canadian Tire were held on October 21, 2015 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, former Maple Leaf Gardens, in Toronto with special musical guest . The event was broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet throughout November. All funds raised support Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s national programs and services.

Inspiring Canadians - In Sport & Life FACILITY RENTALS & EVENTS A visit to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is truly unique in Canada offering inspiration to leadership teams, employees, customers and key stakeholders. Corporate stories and brands can come to life in our state-of-the-art facility. Experience Canada’s greatest sport heroes’ magical moments, images, celebrations and treasured artefacts. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame can provide private consultative expertise for any corporate event and our depth of experience affords clients the opportunity to build customized agendas for events or business meetings. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame understands the powerful values that can be nurtured, and the learning and motivation that can result from understanding the history of how our greatest athletes came to be. Our sport heroes are role models and their stories are directly translatable to the corporate agenda. 89 corporate events were hosted at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame throughout 2015, which provided 5,500 guests with an extraordinary, inspiring and interactive experience.

EDUCATION PROGRAMS REPSOL 8,545 students participated in the Repsol education program in 2015 with admission revenues growing by 18% over 2014. An off-site education program was presented by Honoured Member Doug Anakin and the Class of 2015 as part of the Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame 2015 Induction Celebrations presented by Canadian Tire on October 21, 2015. 180 students from three Toronto schools attended. RBC FOUNDATION EQUAL ACCESS FUND 1,000 underprivileged children had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Canada’s great sporting history by participating in educational programing at no cost to the schools thanks to this funding. CALGARY FLAMES FOUNDATION Funding was provided to update an interactive exhibit to be unveiled in 2016, for our new Virtual Distance Learning Program, and 800 underprivileged children were able to visit and participate in inspiring education programs at no cost to the schools. TELUS Community Investment, the Government of and a private donor funded the creation of our new Virtual Distance Learning Program studio to provide virtual education programs to any school in Canada! The 2015 Sport Heroes Golf Tournament had a great turnout and tremendous support from the Calgary community. Sponsors included: Calgary Sport Tourism Authority, AMJ Campbell, Canadian Tire Corporation, SportChek, The Hamptons Golf Club, Nike Golf, KPMG, Molson Canadian, City Group Media and Metro Calgary. 25 Honoured Members and two inductees from across Canada participated in the event.
