Mrak/Rojec/Silva-Jáur lovenia’s achievements over the past several years Slovenia have been remarkable. Thirteen years after Public Disclosure Authorized independence from the former Socialist Federative egui Republic of Yugoslavia, the country is among the most advanced of all the transition economies in Central and Eastern Europe and a leading candidate for accession to the European Union Sin May 2004. Names in Multi-Lingual, -Cultural and -Ethic Contact
Oliviu Felecan, Romania 399 Romanian-Ukrainian Connections in the Anthroponymy of the Northwestern Part of Romania Oliviu Felecan Romania Abstract The first contacts between Romance speakers and the Slavic people took place between the 7th and the 11th centuries both to the North and to the South of the Danube. These contacts continued through the centuries till now. This paper approaches the Romanian – Ukrainian connection from the perspective of the contemporary names given in the Northwestern part of Romania. The linguistic contact is very significant in regions like Maramureş and Bukovina. We have chosen to study the Maramureş area, as its ethnic composition is a very appropriate starting point for our research. The unity or the coherence in the field of anthroponymy in any of the pilot localities may be the result of the multiculturalism that is typical for the Central European area, a phenomenon that is fairly reflected at the linguistic and onomastic level. Several languages are used simultaneously, and people sometimes mix words so that speakers of different ethnic origins can send a message and make themselves understood in a better way. At the same time, there are common first names (Adrian, Ana, Daniel, Florin, Gheorghe, Maria, Mihai, Ştefan) and others borrowed from English (Brian Ronald, Johny, Nicolas, Richard, Ray), Romance languages (Alessandro, Daniele, Anne, Marie, Carlos, Miguel, Joao), German (Adolf, Michaela), and other languages. *** The first contacts between the Romance natives and the Slavic people took place between the 7th and the 11th centuries both to the North and to the South of the Danube. As a result, some words from all the fields of onomasiology were borrowed, and the phonological system was changed, once the consonants h, j and z entered the language. -
Demand-Side Or Supply-Side Stabilisation Policies in a Small Euro

Simulating the SLOPOL10 model, an econometric model of the Slovenian economy, we analyse the efectiveness of vari- ous categories of public spending and taxes during the period 2020 to 2030, assum- ing that no crisis occurs. Our simulations show that those public spending measures that entail both demand- and supply-side efects are more efective at stimulating real GDP and increasing employment than pure demand-side measures. This is due to the fact that supply-side measures also increase potential and not only actual GDP. Measures which foster research and development and those which improve the education level of the labour force are particularly efective in this respect. Employ- ment can also be stimulated efectively by cutting the income tax rate and the social security contribution rate, i.e. by reducing the tax wedge on labour income, which positively afects Slovenia’s international competitiveness. Successful stabilisation policies should thus contain a supply-side component in addition to a demand-side component. We also provide a frst simulation of potential efects of the Covid-19 crisis on the Slovenian economy, which is modelled as a combined demand and sup- ply shock. Slovenia Country Profile
SLOVENIA COUNTRY PROFILE UNITED NATIONS INTRODUCTION - 2002 COUNTRY PROFILES SERIES Agenda 21, adopted at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, underscored the important role that States play in the implementation of the Agenda at the national level. It recommended that States consider preparing national reports and communicating the information therein to the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) including, activities they undertake to implement Agenda 21, the obstacles and challenges they confront, and other environment and development issues they find relevant. As a result, in 1993 governments began preparing national reports for submission to the CSD. After two years of following this practice, the CSD decided that a summarized version of national reports submitted thus far would be useful. Subsequently, the CSD Secretariat published the first Country Profiles series in 1997 on the occasion of the five-year review of the Earth Summit (Rio + 5). The series summarized, on a country-by-country basis, all the national reports submitted between 1994 and 1996. Each Profile covered the status of all Agenda 21 chapters. The purpose of Country Profiles is to: · Help countries monitor their own progress; · Share experiences and information with others; and · Serve as institutional memory to track and record national actions undertaken to implement Agenda 21. A second series of Country Profiles is being published on the occasion of the World Summit on Sustainable Development being held in Johannesburg from August 26 to September 4, 2002. Each profile covers all 40 chapters of Agenda 21, as well as those issues that have been separately addressed by the CSD since 1997, including trade, energy, transport, sustainable tourism and in dustry. -

The wiiw Balkan Observatory May Working Papers|043| 2004 Mojmir Mrak, Peter Stanovnik and Franjo Štiblar Slovenia – Understanding Reforms The wiiw Balkan Observatory www.balkan-observatory.net About Shortly after the end of the Kosovo war, the last of the Yugoslav dissolution wars, the Balkan Reconstruction Observatory was set up jointly by the Hellenic Observatory, the Centre for the Study of Global Governance, both institutes at the London School of Economics (LSE), and the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw). A brainstorming meeting on Reconstruction and Regional Co-operation in the Balkans was held in Vouliagmeni on 8-10 July 1999, covering the issues of security, democratisation, economic reconstruction and the role of civil society. It was attended by academics and policy makers from all the countries in the region, from a number of EU countries, from the European Commission, the USA and Russia. Based on ideas and discussions generated at this meeting, a policy paper on Balkan Reconstruction and European Integration was the product of a collaborative effort by the two LSE institutes and the wiiw. The paper was presented at a follow-up meeting on Reconstruction and Integration in Southeast Europe in Vienna on 12-13 November 1999, which focused on the economic aspects of the process of reconstruction in the Balkans. It is this policy paper that became the very first Working Paper of the wiiw Balkan Observatory Working Papers series. The Working Papers are published online at www.balkan- observatory.net, the internet portal of the wiiw Balkan Observatory. It is a portal for research and communication in relation to economic developments in Southeast Europe maintained by the wiiw since 1999. -

CFO Survey Slovenia | February 2014 As long as government focuses on measures that enable filling the impoverished state’s budget (e. g. new taxations), we can’t expect economic progress. On the contrary, we need stimulating measures that will make Slovene economic environment more optimistic and more supportive, where fear from failure and lack of confidence, as stated by one of the interviewees, will no longer block the development of our economy. 2 Slovenia in 2014 – Lack of optimism Further contraction of the economy, decrease of employment due to the transition of working population to inactivity, stricter credit standards which reduce the availability of new financing – these are main forecasts of Slovene CFOs for the year 2014. Not really optimistic, especially when still a vast majority (62%) of Slovene participants in this third edition of CFO Survey believe that Slovenia will face another year of recession. And for the third time Slovenian CFOs remain the most pessimistic about expectations for the country’s growth this year among all the countries that participate in the Survey. The vicious circle of economy crisis in Slovenia though continues. According to Slovene CFOs, all Slovene governments are responsible for the weak economic development of the country in the last couple of years. They estimate that government involves too much in the economy, and what is more, it constantly changes its economic policy what continues to block the country’s development and growth. The most important factors to reach the last, CFOs list development of financial sector, tax reductions and decrease in corruption. This list should be a sign that it’s about time to implement so hardly waited structural reforms, starting with the rescue program of the Slovene banking system. -
