[email protected] Introduction The article presents data on 1 new and 139 rare moths and butterfly species observed in Lithuania in 2019. 30 species (Zygaena loti, Zygaena ephialtes, Zygaena angelicae, Parnassius mnemosyne, Papilio machaon, Erynnis tages, Brenthis daphne, Euphydryas maturna, Euphydryas aurinia, Melitaea diamina, Melitaea aurelia, Lopinga achine, Coenonympha tullia, Coenonympha hero, Hipparchia hermione, Oeneis jutta, Glaucopsyche alexis, Phengaris arion, Phengaris teleius, Phengaris alcon, Eumedonia eumedon, Lysandra coridon, Lycaena helle, Lycaena dispar, Phibalapteryx virgata, Eupithecia thalictrata, Macaria carbonaria, Cucullia balsamitae, Litoligia literosa, and Agrotis ripae) are included into List of animals, plants and fungi species protected in Lithuania (LR aplinkos ministro įsakymas..., 2018). Parnassius mnemosyne, Euphydryas maturna, Euphydryas aurinia, Lopinga achine, Coenonympha hero, Phengaris arion, Phengaris teleius, Lycaena helle, Lycaena dispar and Xylomoia strix are also protected in the European Union according to the Habitats Directive (Council Directive ..., 1992). Eupithecia addictata was recorded in Lithuania for the first time. Material and Methods The majority of data was collected during field investigations by the authors T. Ūsaitis (T. Ū.), D.
