Wednesday 13th September, 6pm – 7pm at Westminster Music Library Songs from my land and beyond A recital of songs from around the world by Argentinian soprano Susana Gilardoni Mirski accompanied by Benedict Lewis-Smith

Saturday 16th September at City of Westminster Archives Centre Open House weekend – no need to book Swinging Sixties themed open house day with tours of the search room, conservation and strong room for the public, spiced up with a small archive display called ‘Carnaby Street to King’s Road’. Tours will take place at 11 am, 12 noon, 1 , 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm, booking not required.

Tuesday 19th September, 1pm at Wigmore Hall Benjamin Baker, violin Daniel Lebhardt, piano

In 2016 Benjamin Baker won 1st Prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in New York. The 2016/17 season saw him make his debuts with the Royal Philharmonic and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestras. Daniel Lebhardt won 1st Prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in both Paris and New York in 2015. In 2016 he won the Most Promising Pianist prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition.

Janacek: Violin Sonata Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major Op. 47 ‘Kreutzer’

Saturday 30th September, 10am – 1pm at Westminster Music Library A Feast of Folk Songs: A Choral Workshop Musical Director Ruairi Glasheen will lead this singing workshop as part of this year’s Silver celebrations. Please note this event will take place on the Saturday!

Tuesday 3rd October, 1pm at Wigmore Hall Peter Moore, trombone Richard Uttley, piano

In 2008, at the age of 12, Peter Moore became the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Musician Competition. At the age of 18 he was appointed co-principal trombone of the Symphony Orchestra. Peter appears with regular duo partner Richard Uttley.

Thursday 5th October, 7.30pm at St Peter’s Eaton Square Emma Johnson - clarinet Carducci Quartet Peter Francomb - horn Chris West - double bass

Described by as "Britain's favourite clarinettist", Emma Johnson is of the UK's biggest selling artists. She performs for Eaton Square Concerts with her versatile wind and string group 'Emma Johnson and Friends'.

Monday 9th October, 5.30pm, at Pimlico Library Special performance for Out and About members by South Westminster Community Choir With a tea and cake reception before the performance. Performance will begin at 6pm.

Tuesday 17th October, 2pm at Westminster Archives Centre My Favourite Archives A one hour talk just for Out and About members by Westminster Archivist, Alison Kenney in the ground floor meeting room of the Archives Centre. With tea and biscuits and time to chat to other Out and About members.

Halcyon Quartet Following their brilliant debut last season, the 2017 winners of the St Peter’s Prize, The Halcyon Quartet, return with a programme of string quartet favourites.

Haydn: String Quartet in C major, Op. 74 No.1 Dvorak: String Quartet No.12 in F major, Op.96 'American' Schubert: String Quartet No. 14 in D minor 'Death and the Maiden'

Tuesday 24th October, 6-10pm at the Coliseum Dress rehearsal of Rodelinda by English National Opera A dramatic tale of power, anguish and love, Rodelinda is one of Handel’s finest operas. Award-winning director Richard Jones's imaginative production is set in Fascist Italy with stylish design by Jeremy Herbert.

Thursday 26th October, 7.30pm at St Peter’s Eaton Square Freddy Kempf, piano Freddy Kempf is one of 's most successful . He came to prominence during the 90s when he won BBC Young Musician of the Year and third prize in the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. His third prize (as apposed to first) caused uproar with the competition's audience and the Russian press hailed him as "the hero of the competition".

Thursday 2nd November, 7.30pm at St Peter’s Eaton Square Tasmin Little (violin) and John Lenehan (piano) Tasmin Little has firmly established herself as one of today’s leading international violinists, performing in some of the most prestigious venues in the world.

Thursday 9th November, 7.30pm at St Peter’s Eaton Square The Queen's Six The Queen’s Six are a male a cappella ensemble based in and drawn from the ranks of the Choir of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. The group have continued the tradition of the court musicians of the reign of Elizabeth I performing both sacred and secular music. Their programme 'Sous la pluie anglaise' includes a mixture of French and English sacred, folk and part songs, ending with a little bit of Bacharach and The Beach Boys!

Tuesday 14th November, 1pm, YCAT at Wigmore Hall Olivier Stankiewicz, oboe Castalian Quartet

In 2015, French oboist Olivier Stankiewicz was appointed principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra and he is joined by the Castalian Quartet, a rapidly emerging voice on the international chamber music scene.

Thursday 23rd November, 6 – 7pm at Westminster Music Library Victory Wind Quintet (formed by musicians of the Guards bands) make a return visit to the Music Library.

December Event

Tuesday 5th December at 1pm, YCAT at Wigmore Hall Timothy Ridout, viola Frank Dupree, piano

In 2016 Timothy Ridout become the first-ever British winner of the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition. He is joined by pianist Frank Dupree, laureate prize winner of the 2014 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in Bonn.

YCAT is a UK charity founded in 1984 that builds the careers of emerging classical artists. It is unique in providing sustained, intensive guidance, bespoke artist management and prolonged care over a 3-5 year period.

Special event for Spring 2018

Wednesday 14th March 2018, 10.30am-1.30pm at The Coliseum Dress rehearsal of Verdi’s La Traviata by English National Opera One of the world’s most performed operas, La traviata tells the tragic love story of the courtesan Violetta and her lover Alfredo Germont. Daniel Kramer directs his first production as ENO’s Artistic Director.
