    Hank Zaranski Baseball Major League Rules Code of Conduct: The Dobbs Ferry Youth Little League is committed to advancing the principals of sportsmanship and fair play. Our goal is to promote mutual respect among players, coaches, umpires, and spectators while providing a quality environment for our children to learn the game of Baseball. The Code is intended to provide behavioral guidance and establish clear expectations for all involved. It is the obligation of ALL program participants, spectators and volunteers, to comply with the terms and provisions of the DFYLL Code of Conduct. Any person violating the Code shall be subject to review and possible administrative action by the DFYLL Board of Directors. Rules Overview: Rules not explicitly identified in this document, default to standard Little League rules appropriate for this age level. Eligibility: ● 5th, 6th, and 7th graders who are Little League Age 11 or 12. Final decision of eligibility remains with the DFYLL Board of Directors. Like Jeter, Arroyo is well spoken. • Loved Hernando High School and called himself a “math and science geek” who enjoyed AP calculus. He had a 4.4 GPA in high school and says he would have studied engineering in college if he had not signed a pro baseball con- tract. • In 2012, he represented the United States in the under-18 world champion- ships in Korea, was the tournament MVP and helped the U.S. win the gold with a .387 average. His performance landed him in the September 21, 2012, issue of Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd, a nice kickoff to his senior year of high school. • First-round pick out of high school in 2013 and hit .326 that summer in rookie ball. • Spent 2014 in Low-A Augusta, where he hit .203 in 31 games before sustaining a hyperextended thumb. “That was kind of a rude awakening to baseball,” Arroyo told Alex Pavlovic of CSN-Bay Area in spring 2015. “It’s something that helped me a lot. Two members of the manager/coaching staff must be team parents. (NCLL Rule) One member of the manager/coaching staff can remain outside of the dugout while the team is on the field (Juniors, Majors, AAA, AA). He/she must be within arms distance of the dugout fence. When a team is at bat, with the exception of the 1st and 3rd base coaches, no one else can be outside the dugout. For safety reasons, no coach can be above the top of the fence. (NCLL Rule) UNIFORM RULES FOR ALL DIVISIONS All players must wear solid grey baseball pants, proper team uniform shirt, team color or white socks and team hat. (Exception: call-ups).     BASEBALL TERMS Help from a fielder in putting an offensive player out. A fielder is credited with an assist when he ASSIST throws a base runner or hitter out at a base. A play in which the batter hits the ball in fair territory and reaches at least first base before being BASE HIT thrown out. BASE ON BALLS Walk; Four balls and the hitter advances to first base. A coach who stands by first or third base. The base coaches instruct the batter and base runners BASE COACH with a series of hand signals. The white chalk lines that extend from home plate through first and third base to the outfield and BASE LINE up the foul poles, inside which a batted ball is in fair territory and outside of which it is in foul territory.

    LITTLE LEAGUE SAFETY PLAYING RULES & REGULATIONS The following are Little League Rules and Regulations that are designed with the safety and well being of the players in mind. Local leagues may add additional safety rules and/or guidelines but are not permitted to alter any of the following. NOTE: Junior, Senior and Big League Rules and Regulations differ in some applications. 1. Regulation VI Pitching Restrictions. • Pitching activity should be monitored on a regular basis by both the Player Agent and Safety Officer. 2. Rule 1.08 (NOTE) The On-deck Position Is Not Permitted. • Players are not allowed to hold a bat in their hands until the umpire calls them to bat. At that point, they are permitted to pick up their bat (from a controlled area, bat rack, and proceed to home plate to take their position in the batters box. They may take a couple of practice swings on their way to home plate. • Players are not permitted to take practice swings in between innings and/or while the pitcher is warming up. 3. Rule 1.10 & NOTE Bat Restrictions and Guidelines. • The traditional batting donut is not permissible. • Watch for metal bats without proper grip material. • Watch for metal bats that have flat spots or cracks. • Non-wood bats may develop dents from time to time. Bats that cannot pass through the approved Little League BatRing must be removed from play.. 4. Rule 1.11 (e) through (k) Playing Uniform Restrictions. • Pins are not permitted on hats of players, coaches or umpires. 5. Rule 1.16 Batting Helmet Requirements and Restrictions.
