PALATINE HIGH SCHOOL National Honor Society Induction Standards PALATINE HIGH SCHOOL National Honor Society Induction Standards At Palatine an applicant to NHS must meet requirements in the following categories: I. Scholarship II. Leadership and Service III. Character IV. Faculty Review I. Scholarship Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA (un-weighted) at the conclusion of the fifth semester. II. Leadership and Service A. Service Project: Service is an integral factor in membership in the National Honor Society. Describe one service project (from school, community, etc.) you have participated in while in high school. Please limit your response to around 300 words. You may type it directly in the space below or insert a picture of your essay. This essay serves as verification of the service component required for acceptance. B. School Participation: Applicants must have actively participated, during one’s high school years, three different activities with one being a multiyear commitment. Character Applicants must exhibit the six Pillars of Excellence in character as defined by Palatine High School’s Do the Right Thing – citizenship, cooperation, honesty, integrity, respect, and responsibility – and must secure the sponsorship of one member of the teaching faculty. After all applications are received, PHS faculty and the Faculty Review Committee will further evaluate Character issues. .

Go Gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness This fall, GBS Athletes together raised both awareness and over $4,750 to support pediatric cancer organizations. While majority of the funds went towards Cal’s Angels, some went to The Ted Mullin Fund, Go 4 the Goal and Children’s Cancer Fund Research. All teams wore Gold Gear as part of their uniforms to raise awareness for Pediatric Cancer.

    September 2021 Dear Alumni: I can’t even begin to share with you how wonderful it is to have returned to full in person student learning for the 2021-2022 school year! It remains a unique and challenging time for our entire school community. Our students and staff wear masks and maintain social distance but we can still see the smiles and we feel closer than ever before! This year’s Homecoming theme is “Hooray for Hollywood!” We are so excited to resume our homecoming activities! Our dance will be outside and have more of a concert feel. Other activities include a fundraising kickball tournament, pep assembly, dress up days, and our amazing hallway decorations! On Friday, September 24th at 7:30 pm the Cougars varsity football team will take on the Fremd Vikings at the Charlie O. Feutz Field. Alumni are welcome to join us for the game and to reminisce! If you know of any classmates who have not yet joined the Alumni Club, please encourage them to do so. Alumni Club membership and involvement keeps you in touch with classmates and up-to-date on events occurring at your alma mater. Those interested can contact John Shoro at [email protected]. Our Cougars in Need program continues to help many families by providing food, transportation, clothing, and school supplies. If you are interested in supporting our Cougars in Need, donations are accepted through our Conant High School Boosters.
