September 1. 2019

Dear Donors,

Humanity First Telethon will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019. We are once again looking forward to your active and generous participation in this International event.

This LIVE Global Telethon is intended to not only create awareness of the good work Humanity First is doing around the globe, but more importantly to fundraise for upcoming and ongoing humanitarian projects.

The Global Telethon will be broadcasted LIVE on the internet from Pakistan, Germany, United Kingdom, United States of America, , Africa, Canada and other European countries. Humanity Fist Canada will be broadcasting LIVE on:

September 28 from 2pm – 6pm Eastern Standard Time.

While we will be fundraising for our Water Well, School, IT Center, Sewing Center, Bus and of Sight Projects, the primary focus of this year’s fundraising will be on upcoming Ivory Coast Hospital.

I request you to mark your calendars and be available to watch and call in to this live telethon. Your participation will mean a lot to us and much more to those who are in need of humanitarian assistance.

Once again, thank you for your support and generous that enables us to make a difference in lives of the many.

Let's forget our own unhappiness for now and give a little happiness to others. When we do good to others, in reality we are best to ourselves. Remember whatever we do for ourselves will be gone, but whatever you do for others will become your legacy.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.

With regards,

Dr. Aslam Daud Chairman, Humanity First Canada

Hospital Project in Ivory Coast

Current Status:

Ivory Coast (Cote D’Ivoire) is a fast developing nation in West Africa. With a population of 23.74 million, the key demographics are as follows:

 Access to safe drinking water: 80%  Access to proper sanitation: 23%  Literacy Rate: 44%  Life Expectancy: 54 years  Maternal Mortality (per 100,000 live births): 614  Under-5 Mortality (per 1,000 live births): 89

Per 100,000 people, the clinical capacity is 9 doctors, 31 nurses and 15 midwives. Whilst it is better in urban areas, there is a shortage in rural areas. In many aspects, health outcomes have improved, for example in the last decade, infant mortality has reduced from 9% to 6.4% and the percentage of births classed as low-weight is falling. Births attended by skilled health staff have increased from 45% to 73.6%. Life expectancy has risen to 54 years.

In this context, the new hospital in Yopougon plans to act as a teaching hospital to increase clinical capacity in the country. Visiting specialists from Europe and North America will provide practical training for local clinicians. The hospital will offer lower cost care but good quality care for the low income communities subsidised by specialist services.

Objective of Hospital Project:

To provide affordable and high-quality care to people on lower incomes based on values built around respect for patients and a constant focus on clinical quality.

The Plan: Under our Global Health Program, Humanity First will build a hospital in the Ivory Coast.

The hospital will gradually offer a range of services in a phased manner, but early priorities include maternity, orthopaedics and paediatric services supported by a range of facilities including diagnostics, surgical theatre and pharmacy. The focus will be on quality and affordable care as the hospital grows. Further information can be found at www.humanityfirst.ca
