There are many effort to preserve and prevent environmental deterioration and to utilize its resources and to develop renewable resources in order to be one of the main environmental and touristic resources for development in Riyadh. There are boundaries of farms around the valley which may be considered as urban element which looks like the valley façade but the boundaries of farms need development because there is no connectivity between them. The Project for the Development of Historical Dir'iyyah, aims to turn it into a cultural and touristic center at the national level, according to its historical, cultural, architectural and environmental characteristics. It requires the restoration of archaeological sites and historic facilities in Dir'iyyah, which was the cradle of the start of the first and second Saudi state and its rehabilitation, and the establishment of cultural heritage institutions, and adding necessary services for the launch of the touristic, cultural and spiritual activity in the city. The Wadi Hanifa Project was awarded the Aga Khan Award in 2010, as one of the most important environmental rehabilitation projects that has been completed in the region and the world. It also reflects the depth of the local heritage and the possibility of using heritage and classical architecture of the region in contemporary projects that return to the city its identity and renewal. A monument to historical buildings or a tale of history but beyond that to express the historical roots of this entity through the consolidation of the concept of citizenship and belonging, as well as confirmation of the concept of identity and education or we call it heritage and historical education so that we can make a generation linked to his homeland. It is located on the Hanifa Valley. The palm farms are characterized by a topography. The basic phase of the project covers both of archaeological districts of Atturaif and Al-Bujairy, in addition to streets, infrastructure, and parking lots, and the networks of public utilities and services. The project includes restoring the urban structures to its state before being degraded and disappearing in preparation for retaining it within the traditional, cultural and appropriate activities to make it an architectural landmark in an open museum. Basic level data would be fully accessible for anyone and other levels would be accessible for registered users, partners in the program or affiliated to research institutions or to scientific projects only.

A total of 212,194 documents have been elaborated till today (digitized for use of researchers) from published and digital sources (including articles, periodicals, reports, bibliographies, documents related to history of countries/cities and such written documents, pictures, maps, engravings and organized in 4200 dossiers. Documents related with the Project are still permanently collected and categorized by the countries and individual monuments (Ibid, Database booklet), (Fig.3, 4 and 5).

Futuristic steps:

According to the research of several specialists in this field, it will be necessary to update the computer technology of the program and the permanent work of the group of researchers, • to introduce Arabic and French as database languages; • to organize, on the regional levels, training for liaison officers/operators of the database program (Fig.6); and • the most important that IRCICA and Al-Turath jointly to repeat request from the governments of the OIC member states to provide us the official data about Islamic monuments in their countries.
