But this phenomenon is not always connected with totemism2. Horse occupies a prominent place among such animals and it is one of the oldest cultural symbols. But its role in the wedding ceremony is not examined enough because of the lack of the source base. A chief aim of the article is to distinguish horse role and place in Central Polissia wedding ritual.
