17 Ways to Save on Weddings

Don’t get married on a Saturday. Weekday weddings are less expensive

Choose the end/beginning of off for your wedding

Find a venue that lets you choose your own vendors

Have ceremony and reception at the same place to cut down on transportation costs

Don’t serve a sit down meal, buffets are less expensive

Factor late night snacks at 70% of your guest list since many guest will leave before late night snacks are served

Don’t feel like you have to have a . Several smaller cakes and/or a variety of desserts are also good options

Don’t offer endless alcohol options. You can offer beer, wine and one signature cocktail and forgo the top-shelf liquor

Choose a venue that doesn’t need a lot of décor because it already offers a lot on its own

Create your own photo booth using polaroid cameras

Have nice invitations printed but print your own rsvp cards, use colored envelopes for a pop of color instead of lined envelopes and/or use a website for rsvp’s instead of printed ones

Use a seating chart instead of individual escort cards

Reuse all ceremony flowers and bridesmaid’s bouquets at the reception on sign-in table, cake table, bar, etc. Also use greenery and candles instead of just flowers

Combine food, drink and favors. Guests love favors they can eat or drink.

Use standard linens and add a table runner instead of custom more expensive linens

Shaddox & Co is a wedding design and planning company located north of Dallas. We focus on providing for clients who want a wedding planned to perfection. We offer a variety of packages and service to help plan everything from the proposal to post- wedding events. We are available on Instagram, Wix and Facebook.

Goals for Shaddox & Co: For the first year, the company will start out as a part-time wedding planning company where I would like to plan for friends, family and acquaintances. We will start off small and local and expand in future years. During this time, I will lay the foundation to build a reputable company. I would like to intern for events so I can gain valuable experience and learn as much as possible. During this year, I would like to work with 3-4 clients.

For the 2nd-4th years, I would like to perfect my packages and expand my company to offer more wedding design and not just wedding planning. During this time, I would like to continue to grow and begin to be known in the DFW wedding industry. My goal would be to work with 6-8 clients during each year. We will focus on expanding the business through word of mouth, a strong social presence and branding opportunities.

For future years, I would like to be very well known in the DFW wedding industry. I would like to work 10-12 clients each year and have the knowledge and experience to provide them with all the resources and knowledge needed for perfect wedding planning. I hope to do this by building a reputation built on a solid foundation of being organized, efficient and creative and listening to the needs of each client.
