She has eschewed genre for originality, celebrity for longevity, and musicals trends for musical truths. She has lived through the boom and bust of the industry and emerged just as she entered - unequivocally herself. Fans have come to expect the unexpected from Meshell, and faithfully followed her on sojourns into soul, spoken word, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, rock, all bound by a lyrical, spiritual search for love, justice, respect, resolution, and happiness. Groove driven, infectiously melodic and lyrically meditative, Meshell’s latest album, Comet, Come To Me, finds her returning to the same well of creativity that launched her career.

Jazz Meets World 2017 - jarní koncerty IDAN RAICHEL - PIANO SONGS (Izrael) Idan Raichel - klavír, klávesy, perkuse, zpěv 08.03.2017 od 19.30 Divadlo u hasičů, Římská 45, Praha 2 Jedna z největších ikon izrealské hudební scény opět v Praze. Na těchto koncertech uslyšíme písně jeho celé kariéry včetně skladeb z posledního alba At The Edge Of The Beginning. Jon Sass' Souluba Band Breeze of Life Breeze of Life is an original journey rooted in a sound of the bass tuba and voice. The music is a mix of gourmet food for the soul in a blend of generations. The tuba player and singer of the band are father and son who set out to share their musical worlds. The formation and music are both original, blending a range of stylistic vocabularies flavoring the music, from Jazz, Funk, R&B , Latin and Carribean elements yet, sets its own niche. SOULUBA mirrors seeds planted from recent generations of singers in Jon’s family. For Jon, there is without a doubt a connection between his musical bond with Jonny and Jon’s father, a lead Gospel singer who he has never met. Having grown up in Harlem, New York City at a time where the quality of creative integrity and the high humanity generated from the music of 60’s & 70’s remains, as a strong influence for Jon’s vision with the band . V minulých několika letech se stala velmi populární díky vlivu istrijského folku, kreativní to inspiraci jejích skladeb. Istrie je překrásná chorvatská krajina na severu Jadranského poloostrova, zvláštní svou hudební tradicí a nářečím. Tamara píše básně v lokálním nářečí a zpívá ve starodávném dávno zapomenutém istrijském dialektu. Tamara Obrovac Quartet spojuje dovedně a nenásilně prvky jazzu, istrijskou a středomořskou lidovou muziku a mnohé prvky moderní hudby. Naprosto originální a autochtonní hudba kvarteta přesahuje časové i zeměpisné hranice, čímž se stává univerzálním uměleckým vzkazem, který dělá z Tamary Obrovac výjimečnou umělkyni s vlastním unikátním muzikálním výrazem. Born in the States, I did not begin these fateful trips until my time as a graduate student at the University of Michigan where my teachers encouraged me to answer questions of identity that long persisted for me: What does it mean to be American born yet with such a motley crew of forbearers hailing from Lithuania, China, and Andean South America? For more than twenty years, I’ve been answering this question, with each piece raising yet more to address.
