Keeping information secure on mobile devices is critical for any user, whether they’re accessing corporate and customer information or storing personal photos, banking information, and addresses. Because every user’s information is important, iOS devices are built to maintain a high level of security without compromising the user experience. Data Protection Class iOS devices provide stringent security technology and features, and yet also are easy to use. The devices are designed to make security as transparent as possible. Many security App Sandbox features are enabled by default, so IT departments don’t need to perform extensive configurations. And some key features, like device encryption, are not configurable, so Software User Partition users cannot disable them by mistake. For organizations considering the security of iOS devices, it is helpful to understand OS Partition how the built-in security features work together to provide a secure mobile computing platform. Encrypted File System iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch are designed with layers of security. Low-level hardware and firmware features protect against malware and viruses, while high-level OS features allow secure access to personal information and corporate data, prevent unauthorized Kernel use, and help thwart attacks.

  • Retrocomputing As Preservation and Remix
Retrocomputing as Preservation and Remix Yuri Takhteyev Quinn DuPont University of Toronto University of Toronto [email protected] [email protected] Abstract This paper looks at the world of retrocomputing, a constellation of largely non-professional practices involving old computing technology. Retrocomputing includes many activities that can be seen as constituting “preservation.” At the same time, it is often transformative, producing assemblages that “remix” fragments from the past with newer elements or joining together historic components that were never combined before. While such “remix” may seem to undermine preservation, it allows for fragments of computing history to be reintegrated into a living, ongoing practice, contributing to preservation in a broader sense. The seemingly unorganized nature of retrocomputing assemblages also provides space for alternative “situated knowledges” and histories of computing, which can sometimes be quite sophisticated. Recognizing such alternative epistemologies paves the way for alternative approaches to preservation. Keywords: retrocomputing, software preservation, remix Recovering #popsource In late March of 2012 Jordan Mechner received a shipment from his father, a box full of old floppies. Among them was a 3.5 inch disk labelled: “Prince of Persia / Source Code (Apple) / ©1989 Jordan Mechner (Original).” Mechner’s announcement of this find on his blog the next day took the world of nerds by storm.1 Prince of Persia, a game that Mechner single-handedly developed in the late 1980s, revolutionized computer games when it came out due to its surprisingly realistic representation of human movement. After being ported to DOS and Apple’s Mac OS in the early 1990s the game sold 2 million copies (Pham, 2001).

(bucket) keyswitches will be pursued as potential options at introduction. Other keyboard technologies will be investigated in parallel but may not be available at introduction. If a better alternative does turn up, it could be made available within a few months of introduction, either as a standard keyboard or as an option. Although the keyboard layout is nearly final, it has not frozen since it is not yet on the critical path. One remaining potential variation is the possible removal of the cursor cluster from the layout. 2. Engineering is concerned that the current cost objectives may not be feasible. 3. Although there is no requirement to have the Problem Analysis Guide (PAG) stowed within LISA, Engineering will continue to pursue methods by which the PAG may be attached to the main unit.

Käyttöjärjestelmissä Applen pahin kilpailija Microsoft on saavuttanut markkina-asemansa lisensoimalla käyttöjärjestelmänsä kenelle tahansa, Apple sen sijaan on sitonut käyttöjärjestelmänsä tiukasti itse valmistamiinsa tieto- koneisiin. • Long-Term Growth Leonard Sherman
Leadership Imperatives To Achieve The Holy Grail of Business: Long-Term Growth Leonard Sherman ChangeThis | 149.04 In all human endeavors we tend to revere stars that perform at a superior level over a long and illustrious career. Sports Hall of Famers Aaron, Montana, Jordan, Pelé, and Nicklaus and arts honorees Ozawa, Tharp, and Simon have earned legendary acclaim for performing immeasurably beyond the reach of most mere mortals. In business, as well, a few widely recognized companies have been able to deliver consistently superior growth over the long-term, including Amazon, who last year became the fastest company to reach $100 billion in sales, and J&J, 3M, and The Ball Corporation, each of whom has been out-innovating and outgrowing the overall market for more than a century. The Elusiveness of Long-Term Growth But these are exceptions to the rule that most companies are unable to sustain superior growth. For example, in perhaps the most definitive study of long-term business performance, the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), analyzed the long-term revenue growth of approximately five hundred Global 100 and other companies over the past half-century. The study found that only 13 percent of large enterprises could sustain a real annual revenue growth rate of as little as 2 percent over successive decades.1 ChangeThis | 149.04 Given increasing globalization and technological disruption, it is becoming harder than ever for companies to sustain growth. Researchers at the Deloitte Center for the Edge found that the “topple rate,” measuring the frequency with which companies lose their market leadership position from year to year, has grown by nearly 40 percent over the past forty years.

4 Summary The design and testing of an electronic prototype for the automatic control of the vehicle's high light through the intelligent detection of other automobiles is presented.
