Wild Waters Music Fest to Save the Boundary Waters The Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters announces Wild Waters Music Fest to Save the Boundary Waters Wild Waters Music Fest will take place on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth, MN ELY, MN - Today the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters announced its inaugural Wild Waters Music Fest: a single day concert event featuring some of Minnesota’s finest musicians to amplify the fight to save the Boundary Waters from proposed sulfide-ore copper mining. In partnership with Live Nation and hosted by Art In Bayfront Park, Wild Waters Music Fest to Save the Boundary Waters will take place on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth, MN. The day will feature sets from nine Minnesota-based artists including Atmosphere, Doomtree, Cloud Cult, Low, Jeremy Messersmith, deM atlaS, War Bonnet, The Lioness, and DJ Keezy. Tickets start at $33 and go on sale this Friday, June 14th at 12:00 PM CT here: https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/060056C4BF53768C A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold to Wild Waters Music Fest, plus any additional donations will go directly to Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness, the organization leading the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters, working to permanently protect this Minnesota crown-jewel and America’s most popular Wilderness. The festivities will commence at 3:30 PM. On-site food and beverages will be provided by an assortment of local food trucks, restaurants and breweries. For more information, including set times, parking, accommodations and FAQs, please visit: https://www.savetheboundarywaters.org/wildwaters “Like the Boundary Waters, Minnesota’s rich music scene is cherished here at home and recognized far and wide. It’s awesome to see so many great Minnesota musicians uniting in support of our mission to save this pristine wilderness and shared treasure,” said Tom Landwehr, Executive Director of the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters. Two of those musicians, who make up part of renowned Minneapolis hip-hop collective Doomtree, had these words to share with regards to their performance at Wild Waters and what the Boundary Waters has meant to them, "Doomtree is really excited to be a part of the first-ever Wild Waters Music Fest and stand side-by-side with so many awesome musicians, activists, and the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters. This show is going to rule,” said Lazerbeak. And from P.O.S, "I’ve never had my mind blown like my first trip to the Boundary Waters. It’s so easy to forget about how wild and beautiful and open the wilderness can be. It’s even easier to forget how wild and open it can make you feel." The decision to perform at Wild Waters was a no-brainer for Cloud Cult, known as one of the most environmentally conscious bands in the industry, frontman Craig Minowa had this to say of his time spent in the Boundary Waters, “For me, there's just no place that has had such a profound impact on my understanding of myself and our true role in this world . It's just you, a backpack, a canoe and a reminder that nature really is the absolute rule-maker, and the more we step on her now, the harder she's gonna bite back." War Bonnet, a Native American rock band from the Ojibwe Reservations of northern Minnesota had this to say of their involvement, “The Boundary Waters is a sacred place to our ancestors who lived there thousands of years ago. It now lies within our Treaty Territory where we are entitled to hunt, fish, and gather. War Bonnet is proud to make a stand in helping protect the Boundary Waters.” The Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters is leading the effort to ensure permanent protection for the Boundary Waters Wilderness, America's most visited Wilderness and Minnesota's crown-jewel, from proposed sulfide-ore copper mining. • Walker Art Center and the Current Will Not Present Rock the Garden in Summer 2021
NEWS Press Contact: Rachel Joyce 612.375.7635 rachel.joyce@walkerart.org Online Press Room: walkerart.org/press-releases WALKER ART CENTER AND THE CURRENT WILL NOT PRESENT ROCK THE GARDEN IN SUMMER 2021 MINNEAPOLIS, NOVEMBER 11, 2020 — Due to uncertainties around planning for a large-scale outside event next summer, the Walker and The Current will not present Rock the Garden in 2021. After thoughtful consideration of how Rock the Garden could be coordinated and held in the time of COVID-19, the two organizations determined that the event in its current form could not be done in a way that would guarantee the safety of community members and artists. The decision to not present Rock the Garden next summer was a difficult one for the organizations to make, as both music fans and members of the Twin Cities community. The Walker and The Current have been teaming up to present the Twin Cities’ unofficial kick off to summer since 2008 and are hopeful that fans will be able to join together again soon. “This is a very difficult decision for both organizations. Although it may seem premature, the bulk of the planning, including booking bands on tour and securing permits, needs to be completed by the New Year. It is not feasible to do this work given the current situation with COVID-19. We are disappointed to not be able to share the event with our community next summer,” comments Mary Ceruti, Executive Director of the Walker. “Rock the Garden takes months of planning, and we have a talented team of event experts who know what is required to make it a success.

Are you done yet?” I’m thankful for friends, such as: Adam Suarez, Phillip Sitter, Brandon Roney, Robert Gayden and Zach Folken, who would periodically ask me “What’s your thesis about again?” That was a question that would unintentionally put me back on track. In terms of staying on task my thesis committee (mentioned elsewhere) was nothing short of a godsend.
