EASTER

KEEPING HOLY WEEK This year Holy Week will have a very different feel. It is important that we try to keep up our lives of prayer and praise to Almighty God. To this end there are videos of the Rosary and Stations of the Cross which can be viewed on: Facebook – All Saints Notting Hill and St Michael’s Ladbroke Grove Twitter - @allsaintandst1 YouTube – simply search for ‘All Saints Notting Hill’ and the videos will appear All of these and the Masses for Palm Sunday and the Triduum (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter) can be accessed through the website www.allsaintsnottinghill.org.uk Fr Philip continues to say Mass privately each day in church at 10.30am (11am on Sunday). He is able to do this because he lives within the curtilage of the church and the College of Bishops in the Diocese of have given specific permission for priests in his situation to enter their churches. Videos of the Holy Week Liturgies will be broadcast via YouTube and Facebook. Please consider watching them at the following times to join in as fully with the worship of the church Palm Sunday 5th April 11am Maundy Thursday 9th April 8pm Good Friday 10th April 2pm Easter Vigil 11th April 11pm Easter Day 12th April 11am If you are able please join yourselves in spiritually with these acts of worship so that you can pray alongside Fr Philip for yourselves, your families, friends, our community and the world. It is normal for all Anglicans to receive Holy Communion on Easter and Pentecost. The Bishops have this year dispensed the faithful from this obligation as we are not able to worship together, but please do make sure to set aside time with God in this most holy of weeks. You might want to say this prayer to unite yourself with the worship: My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Finally please let Fr Philip know of any needs for prayer or any concerns you have and he can pray with you and for you. He is also available to help in any way he can. ON EASTER DAY Although we cannot be together on Easter Day, I would like to encourage you in your own homes and with family who you live with to sing with joy about the Resurrection. I will be singing this in my home at 12 noon and hope you might join me in doing so: Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son; endless is the vict'ry Thou o’er death hast won. Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave-clothes where Thy body lay. Thine be the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son; endless is the vict'ry Thou o’er death hast won.

A PRAYER FOR THE NHS Gracious God, give skill, sympathy and resilience to all who are caring for the sick, and your wisdom to those searching for a cure. Strengthen them with your Spirit, that through their work many will be restored to health; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. THE REGINA CAELI Joy to thee, O Queen of Heaven. Alleluia! He whom Thou wast meet to bear. Alleluia! As He promised hath arisen. Alleluia! Pour for us to God thy prayer. Alleluia!

℣. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. ℟. For the Lord is risen indeed, alleluia.

Let us pray: O God, who through the resurrection of Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ didst vouchsafe to give joy to the world: grant, we beseech thee, that through His Mother, the Virgin Mary, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR NEW CURATE – JOHN BLACKBURNE As you know later this year we will be joined by a new assistant curate, John Blackburne. Due to the current restrictions his ordination will now take place in September. We though it a good idea for John to introduce himself to you:

I come from Chelsea originally and grew up on several council estates around the borough. I went to school in Chelsea until 11 and then attended St Mark’s Comprehensive School in Bishops Park in Fulham. It was while I was at school that I found my faith following a retreat at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham before my confirmation in 1976.

I attended Lancaster University from 1981 until 1984 where I studied law and then spent a year at the College of Law in Guildford. From 1985-6 I was assistant chaplain at St Christopher’s Hospice, in Sydenham. I then spent a year at the Anglican Centre in Rome as Assistant to the Archbishop’s Counsellor on Vatican Affairs. I became a Roman Catholic in 1987. I joined the Civil Service in 1988 and since then have had several different roles within the administration of Social Security ranging from operational roles to working with ministers in the policy directorate. For the last twenty years I have been working for the Ministry of Justice administering Social Security Tribunals. In 1994 I completed an MBA at Leicester University. I was received back into the Church of England in 2013 at St Cyprian’s Clarence Gate and have been Sacristan and Church Warden since 2016. In 2015 I picked up my vocation and was selected for training for ordination in 2016. Since 2017 I have been a part-time student at St Augustine’s Theological College training to be a worker-priest. I currently live in Marylebone. In joined the Bishop of Fulham’s vocations group in 2017 and I am delighted that Fr Philip has kindly agreed to me serving my title and continuing my training serving with you at All Saints following my ordination to the Diaconate later this year. Please pray for John and all who are to be ordained this year.
