Following are requirements: The data files (Datasets) for the tasks below are at Cengages’s website or in my facdata. The * items below tell you what to submit. Hardcopy items including this cover memo must be submitted in a paper folder or binder and a zip file must be uploaded to Moodle; or your project will not be considered as submitted. Do the Tasks below. Do not affix your hardcopy items to the folder and do not submit hardcopy of unnecessary documents. Projects not submitted at the beginning of class are late. No projects will be accepted after the appropriate Due date without prior approval of the instructor. When submitting your work to Moodle, use a zip folder and name the zip using your YCP user id, a hyphen, the letter ‘C’ and case number. For this case, name your zip “userid-C1.zip”. I would name my zip “weddins-C1”. You should copy ALL files you create doing the case projects to the zip unless directed otherwise. Label hardcopy items submitted (name and task number). If you are required to submit several hardcopy items for a task, arrange your hardcopy into packages organized by project task by using staples or a paper clip. Naming standards are very important in computer information systems especially filenames. When naming files, or objects in a spreadsheet or database, name them according to rules discussed in class, in this document, or in the case project/tutorial. Also, you will be given systems models such as DFD and ERD that specify names such as workbook tabs and/or database objects. A professional memo has a specific format, is well formatted, has intro and summary sections, and restates and answers all questions in the case book. You can find a template in the instructor’s facdata. The case book has great resources such as Tutorial E: Guidance for Excel Cases and Tutorial F: Giving an Oral Presentation. For instance, in the section on drafting reports and presentations (p266-269) you are instructed on how to write an introduction and a conclusion. Also, the section on creating graphs and charts (p270-275) are powerful recommendations that you should follow as well.
Task # Requirements 1.1 Read Tutorial C - Building a DSS in Excel (p83-120) and create ‘TutorialC_TS.xlsx’ by doing “At the Keyboard” sections (p87-105). Use that information to create a column chart similar to Figure C-31 (p105). Next, revise the scenario manager to output 2015 data (p103) and create another column chart for 2015. Then, do the Practice Exercise (p106-110), create clustered column chart like Figure C-38 (p110), and save the file as ‘TutorialC_RB.xlsx’ * Create a zip folder, and copy all files into the zip folder. 1.2 Do Case 6-New England Energy Investment Strategy Decision (p121-134) in a file named ‘NEE Case Solution.xlsx’. Next, create a professional memo named ‘NEE Case Solution.docx’ following the requirements in the five bullet points on page 133. Bullet point three is describing a table that is formatted like Figure 6-16 (p134). * Copy all files you created into your zip and submit a hardcopy of the memo. 1.3 Read Tutorial D - Building a DSS in using MS Solver (p145-172). To solve the CV Fitness Trucking Problem, create and save files as indicated in the book and the DFD.
