Have you ever wondered how the Riding for the Disabled came to be?

The therapeutic benefits of horse riding have been known for centuries but it was after World War One they used horses to rehabilitate the injured soldiers from the trenches.

In 1952, Lis Hartel of Denmark made the equine and medical professionals pay attention when she went on to win silver in the individual Dressage; she had limited mobility due to polio! Riding for the Disabled groups then started up throughout Europe as they began to see how incredible it was for mental and physical health! RDA finally became an association in 1969 and is now worldwide and we have locations throughout Australia. RDAWA offers a variety of programs and services to children and adults with physical & intellectual disabilities, mental health issues and learning & behavioural problems in a therapeutical, healthy and inclusive environment, with these beautiful animals being the connection with the participants.

Because of this amazing association, families are connected, they have support and lifelong friends are made. All due to our love for horses and what they provide in an unconditional manner. Come and join us to support RDAWA - it will be a day full of fun, magic and connection.

Visit our website at www.rdawa.org to see the wide range of activities provided and the amazing benefits - you can also buy merchandise ready for the day! POST ENTRIES TO: EVENT SECRETARY, 11 DIXON AVENUE, PINJARRA, WA, 6208
