YOU ARE INVITED TO ENTER THE CATHOLIC HOMESCHOOL MOM OF THE YEAR CATHOLIC HOMESCHOOL DAD OF THE YEAR CONTEST

To be able to enter the contest:  The Catholic student entrant must be home educated at the time the essay is written, between the ages of 12 and 18, and a resident of PA.  The parent nominated must be Catholic, a resident of PA, but need not be doing the majority of the education in the home. Deceased parents who have been alive while the child was homeschooled are still eligible for nomination.  The essay must be typed in any style or format with between 200-250 words explaining why the student believes his/her mom or dad should be “The Catholic Homeschool Mom of the Year” or “The Catholic Homeschool Dad of the Year.”  The focus of the essay must be on the role of the parent inside the home and family, not his/her personal activities and interests outside the home or family unless it relates to the children in the family or the homeschool. The title of the essay should be “Why my mother should be the Catholic Homeschool Mom of the Year” or “Why my father should be the Catholic Homeschool Father of the Year.”  If both mother and father in the same family are nominated, a separate essay must be written for each parent. Essays will not be returned.  Each parent may be nominated by no more than two children in the same household.  Parents should not give assistance to the student with content or vocabulary.  In each category (Homeschool Mom and Homeschool Dad) the top three nominees, the student who wrote the essay, and the nominee’s spouse will receive a free admission to the 16th Annual Catholic Homeschool Conference & Curriculum Fair on April 17, 2010 when the Catholic Homeschool Mom/Dad of the Year will be announced. Travel and other expenses will not be reimbursed. The first place winners will receive an award.  Each typed (not handwritten) essay must include the student’s name, address, and phone number and the first and last name of the parent being nominated or the essay will be disqualified.  At least the nominee and the student who wrote the essay must be present to win.  All entries must be postmarked by April 1, 2010 and mailed to: Catholic Homeschoolers of PA, 101 South College Street, Myerstown, PA 17067.
