Executive Director’s Report – Jeanette Villanueva: Mission Statement Recommendation: ● Updating the mission statement and deciding on one clear statement is the first step of strategic planning. A mission statement declares the purpose of the organization and states the organization’s overall goal. ● Several versions of our mission statement as well as mission statements from other brain injury organizations were handed out and reviewed. ● Many suggestions were made in updating and improving our mission statement. Jeanette will circulate an email with different versions of the mission statement and the Board will provide feedback.

Interim Plans: With Dr. Hayden’s resignation, Chrissy and Jeanette are supporting each other to cover the office and programs, as well as give each other uninterrupted work time. ● Jeanette is supervising the interns with occupational training, as well as facilitating the 12-week course on “Building Better Relationships.” The class is being held on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 – 3:30. ● Chrissy is covering the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. She is also facilitating the Survivors Support Group in Camarillo, and Jeanette is attending the Caregivers Support Group. ● Camilla Seippel, a doctoral student and former intern, has also obtained her Brain Injury Specialist Certification from BIAA. She has been facilitating the Oxnard Support Group, and recently agreed to facilitate the Ventura Support Groups through the New Year. ● BIC staff is assessing programs and exploring how to strengthen them. They held a planning and brainstorming session with Celeste Racicot that produced
