Ø Ms. Gingrich Called the Meeting to Order at 5:30 PM

January 15, 2015

The Board of Directors of the Cedar Foundation called a meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2015, in Dr. Bartley’s office at 5:30 PM. The following Cedar Foundation members were present: Ms. Deb Gingrich, Dr. Marianne Bartley, Mr. Mike Kuhn, Mr. Bob Hoffman, Mr. Cornell Wilson, Mr. George Horn and Ms. Kate Brunelli. Dr. Jeff Yocum, and Mr. Peter Pyles were absent. Also absent was Anne Brubaker, Foundation Assistant. District personnel present - Mary Harrell, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and School Board Secretary.

 Ms. Gingrich called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.

Minutes  Ms. Brunelli made a motion seconded by Mr. Hoffman to approve the minutes from the meeting held on Thursday, November 13, 2014. All members consented.

Financial Report  The financial report for the period November 14, 2014 to January 7, 2015 was shared. Mr. Hoffman made a motion seconded by Ms. Brunelli to approve the Financial Report as presented. All members consented.

 Therapy Dog Update We are thrilled that all the money has been received to pay for Sebastian, our therapy dog. The following is a breakdown of donations: United Way Grant $5,000.00 Friendly’s Fundraiser $250.68 Pet Value Fundraiser $79.17 R. Field and Stream $500.00 HS Vendor Fair $380.00 Miscellaneous Donations – community, friends and family $1,765.00 LHS Class of 1974 $111.00 LCBC Partial Donation $1,414.15 Total $9,500.00 Donations still coming in for “therapy dog” total $1,185.85.

Audit Report  The Cedar Foundation Audit Report by Trout, Ebersole & Groff, for the Year ended June 30, 2014, was presented. Mr. Wilson made a motion seconded by Ms. Brunelli to accept the audit report as presented. All members consented.

Gathering in March/April  The Board decided to hold a “gathering” in March or April at Hebron Catering and Events. In Anne’s absence, Kate will phone Dave Kaley to get dates that he is available to DJ. Kate will then coordinate with Hebron. We also need to get prices on snacks and/or appetizers and beer and/or wine. The information should be shared at the February 12 meeting.

 ZIP Grant The Lebanon Daily News is offering the ZIP Grant for 2015. The ZIP Grant offers local non-profit organizations the opportunity to win a $10,000 advertising grant to be used in all of the products under the MediaOnePA umbrella - including the Lebanon Daily News, the Lebanon Valley Review, the Palm, LDNews.com and other special publications. The Cedar Foundation Board will submit the grant by the deadline which is Friday, January 16, 2015.

 Student and Staff Grant Applications 1. Michelle Norman, LHS Teacher and Dr. Bartley requested up to $300 to be used to support the LHS Ski Club. On a motion by Cornell Wilson and a second by Bob Hoffman, the Board unanimously voted to award this grant. 2. Dr. Bartley requested $300 to be used for student incentives. On a motion by Kate Brunelli and a second by Bob Hoffman, the Board unanimously voted to award this grant. 3. Chad Hellenthal, LHS Emotional Support Teacher, requested $300 to be used to purchase incentives to encourage better reading habits for his students. On a motion by Bob Hoffman and a second by Kate Brunelli, the Board unanimously voted to award this grant. 4. Dawn Connelly, LMS Principal, requested $700 to cover the cost of bussing elementary students to LMS for the Nutcracker. On a motion by Dr. Bartley and a second by Bob Hoffman, the Board unanimously voted to award this grant. 5. Rui Li, Chinese Teacher, requested $750 to take middle and high school students on a fieldtrip to Philadelphia Chinatown. On a motion by Bob Hoffman and a second by Kate Brunelli, the Board unanimously voted to award this grant.

 Mrs. Ruth Koup, owner of Dress for Success, was our keynote speaker at the November 11 Senior Futures Seminar, held at Lebanon High School. Mr. Hoffman made a motion seconded by Mr. Kuhn to give a $100 honorarium to Dress for Success, on behalf of Ruth. All members consented.

 Mr. Hoffman made a motion seconded by Ms. Brunelli to add Sharon Swanger to the Cedar Foundation Board Membership. All members consented.

 Mr. Kuhn had a question about “Naming Rights”. He was approached by someone who asked about naming something in honor of Kate Heckard. We will find this information and share at the next meeting.

 Kate Brunelli made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mike Kuhn; the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM.
