For example, if you were born between the 19th and 23rd of a month, you must check an ephemeris to see exactly where the Sun was at the time of your birth to define your zodiac sign. 2 DESCRIPTION OF CAPRICORN Born between December 21st and January 20th? Your astrological sign is undoubtedly Capricorn. Your strong point is endurance. You have great patience and you always know how to keep your cool. Some find you a little too rigid and a little selfish to their taste, however. Regardless, you are tenacious and when something is important to you, you don’t hesitate to go all in. Capricorn: User Guide Your planet is Saturn. It is a magnificent planet with large rings. Saturn is a giant planet like Jupiter, Uranus or Neptune. It is nearly 900 million miles away from home. Its diameter is about 75,000 miles. Astrologically, Saturn is a cold and dry planet. It is part of the fast planets, with Jupiter. To go through an astrological sign, Saturn takes more than two and a half years. It takes over 29 years to travel the entire zodiac. Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn, but also of Aquarius. Saturn symbolizes wisdom, old age, science and knowledge. The natives of Capricorn inherit these noble qualities. Capricorn is the third Earth sign with Taurus and Virgo. It is a sign governed by the Tenth House. In astrology, the Tenth House represents honor. It represents your professional career and the status you hold in society. Personal fulfillment or assertiveness is also part of it. The body parts that most correspond to Capricorn are the joints, knees, and skin. Their favorite colors are black and red. It is a sign very attached to family values, traditions and security in every sense of the word. 3 Capricorn And The World Around Them On a personal level and especially in friendly relationships, Capricorn are rather solitary people. They have very few friends, but for them these are the “right” ones. They prefer to sort out the best of the best, those who share their vision of life. They prefer to have a select few good friends rather than a bunch that are not very reliable. They can often be a bit distant at first. However, as a friend, they are very protective. If Capricorn Were… A VEGETABLE If Capricorn were a plant, it would surely be African violets. This plant symbolizes sweetness and loyalty. These aspects are in perfect harmony with the character of natives of the sign of Capricorn and are in harmony with their perpetual quest for balance and stability. Capricorn can also be associated with some plants such as fir and thyme. These plants have protective properties with regard to their metabolisms. AN ANIMAL In Greek mythology, the legend of Capricorn was based on the story of the God of wine, Dionysus. He supposedly turned into a half-fish-half-goat animal as a result of Typhon’s attack on Olympus. In the Middle East, this half-fish-half-goat animal represents the God of underground waters, Enki. What is certain is that Capricorn has always inspired many legends around the world. It seems obvious then to associate Capricorn with the goat. It is a tenacious and sometimes stubborn animal that does not hesitate to go beyond its limits, just like the natives of Capricorn. It is also an autonomous animal that does not fear solitude. The animal representing the Capricorn, half-fish half-goat, perfectly illustrates the ambivalence of the natives concerning their hesitations between their doubts and their ambitions. 4 A MINERAL The minerals that can get along with Capricorn are Sapphire and Jade. Some minerals can also contribute to strengthen Capricorn’s skills. The Citrine, Emerald and Rose Quartz allow them to better exteriorize their emotions. The same is true for Blue Calcite, which facilitates communication and interaction. As for Malachite, it considerably reduces their inner shyness. What Jobs For Capricorn? Capricorn are serious and assiduous people. In the professional field, they are orderly and organized workers who care about the quality of their work and pay attention to the smallest details. Capricorn people hate surprises and uncertainty. They are very patient and would rather take some time to plan their projects ahead and anticipate the unexpected. Even if they are sometimes demanding with others, their maturity compels the respect of their colleagues. A Capricorn is a person of integrity who has a sense of duty and obligation. It is a person who has the capacity to fill a position of high responsibilities. For this reason, they will be able to fill a number of administrative positions, or even start a political career. They might also be interested in the field of justice, notably as a judge, lawyer or notary. They will likely to be oriented towards areas related to pedagogy and education. A Capricorn would make an excellent trainer or university professor. Their curiosity will also allow them to open a few doors in the field of research and investigation. That is why they could make a career as a police officer, journalist, or university lecturer and researcher. As a sign of Earth, it could potentially be drawn to its element. They won’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves to pursue a trade related to agriculture, real estate, the environment, and even archeology. In the world of the arts, the shy Capricorn will find it hard to stand at the front of the stage. They will be much more at ease as a director, producer or even publisher for a literary work. 5 Capricorn And Compatibility With Other Signs Capricorn can sometimes be demanding with their loved ones. They want to control everything and be aware of everything that happens. In some cases, they may throw a tantrum and try to impose their principles onto others. The majority of their loved ones will tolerate this behavior because of their integrity and maturity in everything they undertake. But these facets of their personality are not necessarily suitable for just anyone. Capricorn will find it difficult to come to terms with Fire signs, for they have absolutely nothing in common with these signs. Case in point, the lack of presence and involvement of Sagittarius people will eventually annoy them one day or the other. However, Leo people might carry out certain projects with Capricorn even if they don’t necessarily share the same principles. As for Aries, it is slightly better. More understanding, they can forge friendships with Capricorn. Rather conflicting relationships are also to be expected with Water signs. Capricorn will have a very hard time getting Pisces and Scorpio to understand them. It will be difficult for them to get along in the long run. This is the reason why their relationships usually end in a brutal way. But this is not the case of Cancer who can hope for a harmonious friendly and professional relationship based on trust with Capricorn. For Capricorn, relationships are improving with the Air signs. Even if they do not always agree on all points, Gemini and Aquarius people share a certain connection with Capricorn. On the other hand, in the professional field, the carelessness of Gemini can vex Capricorn to the point of putting an end to the collaboration. Unfortunately, due to a divergence of ideas, Capricorn and Libra will not be able to find common ground. Even if there are still some efforts to be made, friendly and professional relationships are much better between Earth signs. The mutual trust and respect that prevails between Capricorns will make it possible to build a stable relationship in the long term. The loyalty of the natives of Virgo will make it possible to gain the trust of the Capricorn. Together they will make 6 a great team. On the other hand, the more independent Taurus will have a hard time sharing the same visions as the Capricorn. 7 CAPRICORN PERSONALITY Capricorn In A Male Natal Chart The Capricorn man is a discreet and solitary man. He is a man who acts in the shadows and who cares very little about receiving praise or recognition. Team spirit is not the strong point of the Capricorn man. He is above all an individualistic man who works above all for his personal interests before starts thinking about common interests. However, behind this facade of cold and distant man actually hides someone with a tender heart. Indeed, even if he has very few friends, the Capricorn man knows how to show himself generous with his loved ones. His generosity and kindness are the result of his strong ties with his family. Very attached to family ties, the Capricorn man is particularly concerned about the happiness of the members of his family. Capricorn is a mature and serious man. It is a respectful person who prefers to stick to the rules and traditions. He is also a worker gifted with great intelligence and determination.

The star wheel rotates about the brass fastener, which represents the 70 North Celestial Pole. The frame of the planisphere has times along the outer edge. 80 Holding the planisphere on the southern corner you'll see "midnight" at the top. Moving Zenith counterclockwise, notice how the hours progress, through 1 AM, 2 AM, and so on through "noon" at the bottom. The hours then proceed through the afternoon and evening (1 PM, 2 PM, etc.) back toward midnight. Once you have the wheel set properly for the correct time and day, the displayed part represents what you see if you stand with the star and planet locator held directly over your head with the brass fastener toward the north. (Notice that the compass directions are also written on the corners of the frame.) Of course, you don't have to actually stand that way to make use of the Star and Planet Locator--this is just a description to help you understand what is displayed.

THE PRELUDE TO THE ANTICHRIST The purposes of this illustration is to show what the time span of the Central Blood Moons from 2011 to 2018. These 2 total lunar eclipses are like a ‘bookend’ of a specific time. This time is approximately a 7 year span. What is unique about a Central Blood Moon is that the Moon passes the center of the shadow of the Earth. Another name for these lunar eclipses is called the Bull’s Eye. Other perspectives about these 2 peculiar that will be depicted on the chart is that the constellations will reversed to show the start of the June 15, 2011 Central Blood Moon first in the sign of Ophiuchus. The other Central Blood Moon will occur in July 17, 2018 in the sign of Capricorn. The June 2011 Central Blood Moon that occurs in Ophiuchus is right on the Ecliptic. The Blood Moon of July 2018 occurs approximately 9 degrees below the Ecliptic in Capricorn. What is unique about this timespan and juxtaposition of the 2 Blood Moons is that they are in phi ratio relationship to the sign of Sagittarius. In specific, the star in this sign is Kaus Sagittarius. As to its possible prophetic significance remains to be seen. One possible depiction is that the time from the Bull’s Eye bookend could be the sign of the rise of the AntiChrist. This is stipulated on the imagery of the duality not only of Sagittarius itself but the dichotomy of the notion of the Christs to come. The image of the AntiChrist according to the Bible is that he will be a man coming in the name of peace on a metaphorical white horse.

This lab is designed to introduce you to some of the coordinate systems used by astronomers. The coordinate systems to be introduced are Longitude and Latitude, Horizon Coordinate System, Equatorial Coordinate System and the Ecliptic Coordinate System. What do I need to bring to the Class with me to do this Lab? For this lab you will need: A copy of this lab script A pencil SC 001/002 star charts Audubon Guide Star Wheel Red Flashlight I. Introduction: This lab is introduces some of the coordinate systems used by astronomers. First, we will review the coordinate system used here on the Earth, using longitude and latitude. Then, we will investigate two of the coordinate systems applied to astronomical maps. The coordinate systems to be introduced are: (1) the Horizon Coordinate System, measuring the sky in altitude and azimuth from the location of the observer; and (2) the Equatorial Coordinate System, measuring the right ascension and declination coordinates fixed to the stars. II. Maps of the Earth: As a starting point for finding your way in the night sky, we first review maps of the Earth and how they were established. A coordinate reference frame is essential so that the location of remote places can be identified, such as islands at sea, cities, towns, mountain tops, etc. On the Earth the coordinate system employs latitude and longitude. © 2015 Arizona State University Page 1 of 17 AST 113/114 – Fall 2014 / Spring 2015 Coordinate Systems Latitude: Latitude is measured in degrees, arcminutes and arcseconds, north or south of the Earth’s Equator.

The Transmission of Ptolemy’s Terms: An Historical Overview, Comparison and Interpretation _________________________________________________________________ Deborah Houlding Abstract The planetary rulership of terms has always been a contentious issue. Astrologers such as Ptolemy and Valens recorded the heated disagreements of their time, and demonstrated the differences between competing national ‘systems’. The Egyptian system was clearly predominant in the preserved records of classical astrologers, but by the end of the medieval period its popularity waned as support moved to the table ‘deemed worthy of record’ by the illustrious Ptolemy. Supposed to have been his preferred choice, this table of ‘Ptolemaic terms’ was later said to have settled all disagreements and to have helped standardize European technique. Even if this were true (it is not), the inconsistency by which the Ptolemaic terms are recorded makes this table the most problematic and controversial of all! What the inconsistencies are, and why they exist, is the focus of this paper. Introduction With the renewed interest in Hellenistic techniques, many modern astrologers who employ the planetary terms are choosing to adopt the older, Egyptian system, which was evidently favoured by early classical astrologers. By far the majority, however, employ the so-called ‘Ptolemaic terms’ as set out in William Lilly’s 17th century textbook Christian Astrology.1 The continued reproduction of Lilly’s text and the influence it maintains upon astrologers studying traditional techniques2 has given this particular rendering of the terms a position of such authority that even software products which allow their computation are 1 Lilly, William, Christian Astrology (London, 1647) [hereafter CA]. The terms, shown in Figure 1, are recorded on p.104.
