Position: Secondary Physical Education and Social Studies/English

Worksite: BC Offshore School - BCCIS-Cairo

Effective Date: August 2017

Contract Term: Full time, two years

Certification: Candidates must be a BC certified or certifiable teacher

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• Human Kinetics and/or Physical Education degree required • strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated successful experience in teaching all components of a well-rounded and effective Physical Education program at the secondary school level • coursework and experience in teaching Social Studies at the secondary school level • proven ability to deliver a balanced PE program at the secondary school level • ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices in Physical Education in order to measure and monitor student progress effectively • proven ability to provide innovative ideas to improve student motivation and perception of PE at the secondary school level • comprehensive understanding of curriculum coupled with the ability to interpret curriculum appropriately to accommodate individual differences • demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with adolescents • demonstrated ability to incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies, which maintain the dignity of young adolescents • evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic with a proven ability to work as an effective team member • demonstrated ability to be a good communicator with parents, students and other teaching staff in a variety of situations (eg. face to face, telephone, e-mail, web) • willingness to work in a collaborative manner with staff, administration and parents

BCCIS is a BC Offshore School that is accredited by the BC Ministry of Education. BC certified teachers teach the BC curriculum that leads to a BC Dogwood Graduation Diploma.
