CertainTeed Roofing Shingles and Polymer Siding Give Classic Look to New Off-Campus Student Housing at the University of Mississippi
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – When University of Mississippi students headed back to school this fall, a new off-campus housing option was available for them to rent. Part of Old Miss Rentals, a student housing development in Oxford, Miss., the newly built Keystone Cottages feature CertainTeed Cedar Impressions ® Double 9-inch Staggered Rough-Split polymer shake siding, Vinyl Carpentry ™ Value Triple 4-inch soffit and Landmark ™ roofing shingles in Weathered Wood.
“Cedar Impressions and Landmark give Keystone Cottages character with an authentic and classic look of wood shake siding and roofing,” said Rick Cardwell, Partner and Builder of Old Miss Rentals. “The prospective student renters were excited about the concept of having their own individual cottages as opposed to living in an apartment complex environment. CertainTeed’s products and their large color selection help individualize the cottages.”
Keystone Cottages are available in one bedroom/one bathroom and two bedroom/two bathroom floor plans. Each cottage features a different Cedar Impressions color, including Pacific Blue, Barn Red, Terra Cotta, Hearthstone, Flagstone, Spruce, Natural Clay and Suede. Amenities include patio/front porch, walk-in closets, washer and dryer, 9-foot ceilings, ceramic tile floors and ample parking. ABC Supply provided the siding and roofing products and Robertson Services in Pontotoc, Miss., installed the vinyl siding at the cottages. News Release Ole Miss Rentals –Page 2 of 3
“CertainTeed’s roofing shingles and polymer siding provide exceptional curb appeal and give student housing developments, such as the Keystone Cottages, a unique design edge,” says Peter Dachowski, President and CEO of CertainTeed Corporation. “Both products give the look of wood through alternative materials, which makes these cottages virtually maintenance free.”
Cedar Impressions create a warm and ruggedly beautiful look. Ideal for whole-house or accent applications, the product’s authentic woodgrain texture replicates real wood, while the staggered pattern appears like hand-sawn, individually applied cedar shingles. The authentic-style shakes are designed with random sizes and gaps to provide beautiful definition, Perimeter™ side lock tabs for a seamless appearance and a 5/8-inch panel projection for distinctive shadow lines. The siding is backed by a lifetime limited warranty.
The two-piece laminated fiber glass-based Landmark shingles are available in a wide variety of classic shades and offer the dimensional appearance of natural wood or slate. The roofing shingles carry a UL Class A fire resistance rating. They are backed by a 30-year warranty against manufacturing defects and an additional 5-year SureStart™ protection that covers labor and replacement material costs if any problem due to a manufacturing defect occurs during the SureStart period.
In addition, CertainTeed building products help building professionals qualify toward credits for The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Green Building Guidelines.
