Wiesbrook Chess Club

We are pleased to offer Wiesbrook students the opportunity to participate in Chess Club. The purpose of the Wiesbrook Chess Club is to learn, play, improve and enjoy the game of Chess.

Chess Club will meet in the multi-purpose room on Fridays, 3:30-4:30 beginning Friday, December 9th, 2016. This year Chess Club will be held in 2 back to back sessions. Students may sign up for both sessions. See below for the schedule:

Session 1 Session 2 December 9 March 10 December 16 March 17

January 6 March 24

January 13 April 7

January 20 April 21

February 10 April 28 February 24

We will be collecting a participation fee of $10.00 for each session to cover the costs of administrative supplies, instructional materials, and an end of the season pizza party. You may pay online using a credit card.

Students are not required to bring a chess set or any other item to meetings. The Chess Club has supplies for every student.

Registration deadline is Friday, December 2, 2016.

Volunteers: We strongly encourage each student have a parent volunteer join us for at least one meeting to help. You do NOT need to know how to play Chess. We also need experienced chess players who would be willing to play games with the students. Volunteer sign up will be sent after registration.

Player Conduct Contract: In order to ensure that the students attending Chess Club meetings are interested in playing/learning Chess, each student will be sent a Player Conduct Contract that MUST be reviewed by parent(s) and player(s) and signed by both. This contract must be turned in at the first Chess Club meeting. Students will not be allowed to participate without the Contract.

Dismissal: Students will be picked up by car line on Durfee road beginning at 4:30p. Please pull your car up to the parking lot entrance on Durfee (coming from Wiesbrook Road) and wait in your car. Do not pull into the parking lot. One of the chess club volunteers will come out to your car and ask for the name of who you are picking up. The name will be radioed back to the multi-purpose room and your child will be brought to your car from door #10. This helps keep the parking lot clear and the students safe (and the parents warm!). Please arrive promptly at 4:30. BASP students will be dismissed directly to BASP.
