About Us St Ann’s Heath is moving from a two form to three form entry junior school that serves Virginia Water and the local area, including Thorpe, Lyne, and parts of Chertsey, Egham, Englefield Green and Staines. This is, overall, a mixed socio economic catchment area with some social priority, but mostly owner occupied, housing. Census information for the wards served indicates that the percentage of  Adults with higher education is well above national average  High social class households is well above national average  Minority ethnic children is below national average  Overcrowded households is well below national average

We currently have two classes in Years 5 and 6, and three classes in Years 3 and 4. The number of children on the SEN register is currently 43 (9 statements, 34 SEN support). This represents 15% of our pupils. 16% of our children are pupil premium.

Children transfer to us from five main feeder schools, with highest numbers coming from Trumps Green Infants and Meadowcroft, who are both now named feeder schools for us.

At St Ann’s Heath we aim to provide a broad, rich and exciting curriculum for our pupils. We are regarded as being highly inclusive in nature- all children are valued, respected and cared for as individuals. Equality of opportunity is embedded in our school aims. Personal and social development and the development of the whole child, is extremely important to us and considered to be strengths of the school.

A consistently large number of parents choose to send their children to us as meeting the educational and pastoral needs of children with SEND which is also considered to be a strength. The SENCO works extremely hard to ensure that identification of SEND is effective and provision is made as appropriate, which includes having close links with agencies such as Behaviour Support and Speech & Language.

We aim for all children to have opportunities, both through the curriculum and through the wide range of before and after school activities offered, to experience successes and to work collaboratively in a variety of settings, eg project work, sports teams, as members of the cast in a production etc. Other special features of the school include-  Enhancing the curriculum through visits (including residential trips in Years 5 and 6), visitors and special events  Enhancing the curriculum through specialist teaching for games, music and French; being an Active Mark School, Sports Mark Bronze, and a Healthy School.  Sporting achievements over recent years include Runnymede and Elmbridge district Year 6 football champions in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014; R and E district Year 6 netball champions in 2010 and defeated finalists in 2014, R and E Year 6 athletics champions in 2010, R and E tag rugby champions in 2013 and R and E Y5 rounders champions in 2013.  Producing two musicals each year, the Christmas Show and a spectacular summer production  Liaison with our feeder infant schools and the induction arrangements for children joining the school, and our support for children who might be vulnerable on transfer to The Magna Carta School, to where the majority of our children move for the next stage of their education.  An active member school of the North Runnymede Learning Partnership, a federation of 12 local schools who work closely together to provide extra experiences for target groups of children (eg more able mathematicians); support for parents eg HSLW, family learning opportunities; and network groups and CPD for staff.  A strong partnership with parents, who are very supportive of the values, aims, work and achievements of the school  An after school childcare facility- The Den, currently catering for around 30 children on a daily basis from 3.10 to 6.00pm.  Partnership school with St Mary’s College, Twickenham

Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in April 2015 and we have been categorised as a “Good School”.
