Welcome email Each new NJEA member will continue to automatically receive an informative email after his or her membership application is processed. The email contains directions for logging on to njea.org as well as other useful tips. 2. Your NJEA Membership Matters publication Beginning in October, all new NJEA members will automatically receive a copy of the publication, Your NJEA Membership Matters. Check out last year’s version here.

Quantity Requested: 3. NJEA member lifeline portfolio *NJEA’s most popular new member organizing tool ever! *Some assembly required. The member lifeline portfolio is an accordion style binder with twelve pockets for members to store their professional resources. The portfolio is completely customizable. Click here for our list of recommended items. Some of the contents will be provided by NJEA, and some can be provided by the local association. Locals can supplement the portfolio’s contents with resources of their own choosing.

Quantity Requested: 4. Constitutional Amendment trifold brochures and pledge cards! *For August-October only! Order up some trifold brochures and pledge cards. Encourage your members to become pension activists and get involved in the effort – spreading the importance of voting yes to their friends and families! Use these resources as you host 10-minute meetings with your members.

Quantity Requested: 5. Why NJEA? Brochure *Recently revised! Download this brochure here. The idea for this piece came from an early career local association leader who saw this video and shared it with us. According to the video, leaders are successful not because people buy in to what leaders do but why they do it.

Quantity Requested: 6. Understanding your local association 11” x 17” poster *New! This poster helps explain the structure of your local association to members. Consider hanging these on your association bulletin boards in your faculty lounges.

Quantity Requested: 7. Join our network palm cards *New! Share these cards with your early career members and encourage them to join the early career members network at njea.org/earlycareermembers. They’ll get access to special members-only events where they can connect with their peers across the state to grow their support networks. njea.org/earlycareermembers has tons of resources, and the news blog is updated every day or two. Quantity Requested: 8. Jersey Educator podcast cards *New! Use these cards to encourage your members to listen in to Jersey Educator, a podcast created by NJEA members, for NJEA members. The podcast lives at njea.org/podcast. Subscribe today on iTunes! As of June of 2016, there are over 6,000 downloads and counting!

Quantity Requested: 12. NJEA PRIDE in Public Education magnetic pin *Discontinued. Order while supplies last. For your PRIDE Chairs and PRIDE team members.

Quantity Requested: 13. NJEA laptop sticker set *Discontinued. Order while supplies last. This set of four stickers makes for some great swag for your members’ laptop computers, etc.

Quantity Requested: 14. NJEA PRIDE in public education window cling *Discontinued. Order while supplies last. NOTE: use funding from NJEA’s PRIDE in Public Education program to order customized window clings that sport the full name of your local association. Give these to your members and students’ parents so that they can show their support! You can find the window clings at www.njeapridestore.com. Learn how to apply for a PRIDE grant here.

18. Sample agenda for hosting a new member orientation event: Early career members contributed to this 20-minute meeting outline, which can be fully customized to the needs of your local association. Download the sample agenda here on njea.org’s Tools for Leaders page. 19. Host a ten-minute meeting: Don’t stop interacting with your early career members after the new member orientation event. Regular contact with you early career members will help to make your association relevant and a part of members’ support networks. Find 10-minute meetings on topics relevant to your early career members here at njea.org/earlycareermembers. Browse agendas, handouts, and materials on the importance of tenure, members’ rights, understanding the local association, and NJEA Member Benefits. Also, consider holding Art of Hosting style events like this one. 20. Don’t miss NJEA’s customized tenure certificate on njea.org’s Tools for Leaders page. 21. NJEA has a limited number of unity pins available. These are typically reserved for local associations who are bargaining or experiencing privatization threats. Work with your NJEA UniServ field representative on how you will make wearing the unity pins relevant to your members. Read some suggestions here on the Message Board. Learn more about the unity symbol here. 22. Get / Be / Stay Involved bags are available to county associations only through their NJEA Membership Committee representative. 23.
