WORKPLACE TRAINING – MANAGING STRESS IN THE WORKPLACE
Aim
Following attendance at this event delegates will be able to: Reflect on the consequences of high levels of stress in the workplace; Increase their awareness of the part they can play in recognising and dealing with stress; Recognise the six Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Management Standards for dealing with stress and how they relate to the workplace.
Learning Outcomes
Will be achieved by participants being able to:
Define stress and its effects in the workplace Understand the HSE management standards approach to stress management Name the six stress risk factors identified by HSE Identify stress risks and ways of reducing them Understand the basic legal position
Programme Introduction & domestics 10 minutes Quiz 20 minutes Overview: Definition and effects of stress 30 minutes Group discussion- Recent Case law 15 minutes Break 15 minutes Risk assessment- Mental demands 15 minutes HSE Management Standards 30 minutes Syndicate Exercise- Tackling the 6 risk factors 60 minutes Plenary & close 15 minutes

The timings and programme are flexible and will alter to accommodate the needs of the group.
