<p>ACAS SCOTLAND</p><p>External Training Programme</p><p>Module – ETP 24</p><p>WORKPLACE TRAINING – MANAGING STRESS IN THE WORKPLACE</p><p>Aim</p><p>Following attendance at this event delegates will be able to: Reflect on the consequences of high levels of stress in the workplace; Increase their awareness of the part they can play in recognising and dealing with stress; Recognise the six Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Management Standards for dealing with stress and how they relate to the workplace.</p><p>Learning Outcomes</p><p>Will be achieved by participants being able to:</p><p> Define stress and its effects in the workplace  Understand the HSE management standards approach to stress management  Name the six stress risk factors identified by HSE  Identify stress risks and ways of reducing them  Understand the basic legal position</p><p>Programme Introduction & domestics 10 minutes Quiz 20 minutes Overview: Definition and effects of stress 30 minutes Group discussion- Recent Case law 15 minutes Break 15 minutes Risk assessment- Mental demands 15 minutes HSE Management Standards 30 minutes Syndicate Exercise- Tackling the 6 risk factors 60 minutes Plenary & close 15 minutes</p><p>Handouts Acas Booklets Handouts Acas Advisory Handbook – Stress at Work Copies of slides Acas booklets -Bullying & Harassment at work guidance for employers & employees Acas/HSE guide - Working together to reduce stress at work </p><p>The timings and programme are flexible and will alter to accommodate the needs of the group.</p>
