Objective/Task: Create a notebook of graphic elements that are interesting, unique, and appealing to the eye.
Journalism Standards: Uses design elements to create a layout that is visually appealing and effectively communicates ideas to the reader. Use various graphic elements (typography, photographs, white space, copy and elements of art) to enhance the readability and attractiveness of the layout. Directions: 1. Find at least 20 graphic ideas in magazines, newspapers, brochures, etc. You may want to look for: Odd shaped pictures - pictures not Unusual color - spot color, process color rectangular or square shaped Headlines Screens - color backgrounds, printed screens Sub-headlines Logos- company names and symbols Pulled quotes/quote boxes 2. Tell why you chose the elements you did, why they appealed to you, why they might appeal to other audiences, etc.
